to hold the people accountable who subverted and looted the economy causing immeasurable suffering.
That's where we stand today.

the bush cheney crime family tanked the economy on purpose

anyone who thinks bush and obama are the same w regard to wall street is an idiot or tool

bush had no inclination to do anything about wall street and did all it could to help wall st.

wanting to and doing it are completely different and the lefts total incompetence letting the right have a free speech free ride with 1200 talk radio stations repeating whatever the 1% 's think tanks wants to 50 mil a week (good day for fox is 3 mil) is the biggest political mistake in history.

You can tell me there are Bush supporters here, but I don't believe it.

Between folks that think Bush's DOJ was good against Wall Street and folks who think Obama's DOJ is better against Wall Street.

As the 2014 election approaches both sides will become more vocal and the urine will flow.

People fall into two distinct camps....Bush supporters and Obama supporters.

It has indeed become a pissing contest.

This isn't a sports event, with two teams. This is DU.
Your use of the word "supporter" is incorrect.

But there are no Bush supporters. A Bush supporter at DU is a troll. That kind of loose playing with language is counter to useful discussion.

Can't talk about how awful war crimes are when you've got to defend someone that fervently believes in ignoring them. Same goes for theft by bankers, environmental disasters in the making, and free trade.

Doesn't matter who is President, or who we think the President is, or even the members of Congress. The political consciousness is corrupted absolutely.

We the People are our only hope.

"as far as I'm concerned neither Bush or Obama have held Wall Street banksters accountable to any reasonable degree. No need for a pissing contest."

...mind if I piss on Bush? I mean, after the claim that he was "tougher" is hyped, it's time to equalize it?

Not only did Bush, who was responsible for the worst financial crisis in more than 70 years, stand in the way of prosecutions, he did everything to facilitate the abuses (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024832745), gutting regulations (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024828575) and opposing efforts by Congress to address the issues (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024828575#post4)

Bush had an opportunity to stem the mortgage crisis triggered by his actions, and he stood in the way. He could have addressed this in 2004 when the problem was evident.

"White House Must Be Investigated for Role in Enron’s Fraud"

Any equating Obama to Bush or hyping Bush over Obama on this issue or the economy is idiotic. There is no friggin comparison.

There is no question that Dodd-Frank was a strong bill—the strongest in three generations. I didn’t have a chance to vote for it because I wasn’t yet in the Senate, but if I could have, I would have voted for it twice.

Dodd-Frank also included the Volcker Rule, which is addressed here:

I think it's unfortunate that Matt Taibbi made that comment, I think it was not well thought out, and now it has become just a distraction.
Just like Bush's wars, Bush's economic catastophy leaves us wanting accountability. Accountability is what is needed now.

When it comes to all manners of fraud prosecutions.

The bankers are felt to be too hard to get, I think that is obviously stupid, and we should give it a shot. There's also this culture that's creeping into our justice system that corporations are people. Since you can't put a corporation in jail, you just fine them, and everyone moves on.
