"The Jews are our main and most formidable enemies."

Anti-Semitism: The oldest hatred, forever young

Most of the hate crimes in the United States don’t take the fatal form that the shootings in Kansas over the weekend did, and most aren’t perpetrated by villains as bloated with rage and blinded by conspiracy theories as the person accused in this case, Frazier Glenn Miller. He’s an extreme, not an emblem.

This is someone who went on Howard Stern’s radio show four years ago (why, Howard, did you even hand him that megaphone?) and called Adolf Hitler “the greatest man who ever walked the earth.” When Stern asked Miller whether he had more intense antipathy for Jews or for blacks (why that question?), Miller chose the Jews, definitely the Jews, “a thousand times more,” he said.

“Compared to our Jewish problem, all other problems are mere distractions,” he declaimed, and he apparently wasn’t just spouting off. He was gearing up.

On Sunday, according to the police, he drove to a Jewish community center in Overland Park, Kan., and opened fire, then moved on to a nearby Jewish retirement home and did the same. Three people were killed.

They were Christian, as it happens. When hatred is loosed, we’re all in the crossfire.

Every one of those words have been used for Kerry in regards to this situation. It is "funny" to see some using Jewish sources to "downplay" the situation. Since this crap has taken place in Ukraine, it has been a constant shitstorm of "no, that isn't/is anti-Semitism," or "it's the Ukrainians, the Russians are pure as the driven snow". It doesn't matter one way or the other, it is using anti-Semitism to meet their goals, but they immediately turn around and claim it is the Jews who are using it to their advantage.

Isn't it 'interesting' they are so concerned that if this is real or if something were to come from it, that "suddenly' the West would rush in to protect the Jews?! Yeah, that is so gonna happen. NOT! But, let's pretend military action did take place...it would be labeled another "war for the Jews."

about that. Both Iraq wars were apparently fought for Israel and the Jews (I still haven't figured out the reasoning on that bullshit). Along with the "care" I'm seeing for the Jews is the complete and total disregard for the history of the region - so eager to proclaim the letter a fake because that would upset their narrative. So, of course, they trot out Harretz who merely say it "could" be a fake. And if it's not a fake? Well, they don't have anything to say about that.

And be prepared and unafraid to meet their violence.

Antisemitism is rising again throughout the world, here in America we have made a mistake of looking at them as crackpots and laughable fools... I can not take that view, Never Forget is not just words in my home.

We do have gun control laws in this country currently. Are you thinking that any gun law proposed which is opposed by someone would earn them that title?

'talking points' - yeah, I could care less to label points people make. I can't stand a lot of groups (nra is one) but that doesn't mean a point is owned by them if they also hold one I might. It also does not make a point invalid if you happen to not like some who hold it. Basically, yelling 'talking points' doesn't really address anything at all.

It is not the guns that are so important but the freedom of people to own certain things. When people 'scream' about knives/cars/etc it is not those things they want banned but are simply pointing out how using a certain argument in one situation looks when applied to others which are similar (ie, cause accidents and deaths in a relatively similar statistical way - like less than one percent who own guns harm others with them which means that over ninety-nine percent don't do anything wrong with them. That same percentage applies to any number of things one might own).

A good discussion starts and continues on when people have a similar starting base (we don't want all of x to be removed from fellow citizens, we have problem y, so let's examine the application of z and evaluate). None of which require the calling of people names.

I support John Paul Stevens's idea of the 2nd amendment. The Founding Fathers did not envision automatic weapons, 12 bullet magazine and the murder implements we have today.

As for opposed gun laws. . .yes, I would. The gun is more important than public safety. The access to murder devices is more important than the children at Newtown, or any other mass shooting. Countries with sensible gun control laws have less murder. Canada, South Korea, Britain, France. Even where I live. . .China.

As for our gun control laws. . .they seem to be working well. Because they are all NRA approved.

John Paul Steven's, imho, is a little out there on the issue. The FF didn't envision most of the things we have or can do today.

See, here you call guns 'murder devices' which would be like someone calling abortion doctors 'murder doctors' (and some folks do)- adds nothing to the conversation (and target shooting doesn't murder anything, etc).

Gun control laws do seem to be working - people using them in ways we don't like go to jail or get punished in some other way and less than one percent of people that own guns use them in a responsible way (may not seem like that when all you see is one side of an issue but it's like I tell my rw friends, not all muslims are named osama and are terrorists even if fox news tries to make you think they are).

Overall folks like you and me who might be on the opposite side of the issue in general can keep things pretty civil if we try (and as I have noted elsewhere I don't own a gun myself but would like the option to have the freedom to do so). I see things as guns are but another tool that many use for hunting, sport, collecting, self defense (and those stories are not allowed in GD so you won't be seeing them). Others see guns and want the government to take them all and only allow a few wealthy people and those in power to be allowed to own them and see their fellow humans who own them as the enemy (again, based on what less than a percent do with them). I can see where they might feel that way (ie, get rid of them and rely on government employees with guns to defend them) given that when you compute the about 0.6 percent of idiots who harm others with guns the number goes up with population and the news only covers those people (vs the close to fifty million stories a day they could cover of owners who do nothing wrong, which is boring to news agencies).

The core of the discussion is about fundamental rights to me and letting the misuse by a few result in the loss of rights for the many.

that they insisted on the death penalty, even over the objections of that great "humanitarian" Pontius Pilate, who claimed he could find "no fault with this man. But in the real world, as opposed to that work of historical fiction known as the New Testament, Pontius Pilate was recalled as governor of Judea for excessive cruelty.

It actually goes downhill from there. It is orthodox Christianity that is THE single greatest cause of anti-Semitism, even the secular or "racial" version of it. I don't care if I get this post pulled or hidden for saying so. It's true, and all Jews know it whether they say it in so many words or not.

It's pretty clear that some of these freaks just cannot stand to see a nation that is overall more tolerant. The demographic changes really seem to threaten some people's perceptions of the world.

Fortunately, I think they and their kind are dying out...but we need to remain vigilant. It feels like there has been a resurgence of insanity over the last several years (combined with increased paranoia and gun fetishism).

What's clear is that the hatred of Jews will forever remain a sad constant in the state of human affairs. I will never for the life of me understand any of this hatred...

There was once an active Klan here in my current hometown, durin my lifetime, but I'd never seen the slightest trace of it in the quarter century since I moved here -- until the WBC crazies came down and grabbed some publicity by protestin an Episcopal church here a few years back: then within twenty-four hours there were two cross-burnins in town, one at that church, the other in a vacant lot beside an apartment complex downtown. Some chicken-shits put up their little pyres late at night, lit em, and skeedaddled. I'm guessin they didn't get the response they'd wanted from the local community, cuz nobody seems to have heard from em since

But it got me thinkin that the one thing that really winds up the wackos is other wackos

That's one thing I've never understood about anti-semitism. Why are some people so threatened by such a small number of people? It isn't like Jews evangelize or anything. I know that a lot of it is jealousy because many Jews are successful in their fields, but people in other ethnic groups, such as east Asians, are successful as well. It's just crazy, and it makes no sense to me. But then again, I guess hatred doesn't have to make sense, does it?
