"O'Reilly hates the guy.. Well, he's just jealous and that is how jealous little bullies behave. They go hide behind their momma's skirt, or their dada's trousers and yell taunts and spit and turn red in the face.

(3,544 posts)It wasn't funny at all. Water is one of the most valuable resources on this planet. We cannot survive without it. To joke about it is hideous. Not to mention all the earthquakes associated with this process. Yes, we are screwed unless we do something about it. It must stop immediately. All the gas and oil companies think about are profits and screw the rest of us.

(2,574 posts)was the first time I realized Letterman was a sincere, commonsense and effective voice for populism. He is able to message seriously Democratic issues in language that is both educating and inclusive. In the years since that initial O"Reilly visit and confrontation (I wish there were a video, it was almost as breathtaking as Colbert's Correspondents Dinner reality check on Bush) Letterman has been a
gifted high profile ally against the destructive, hypocritical and hateful policies of the Repubs. And these remarks, like his explanation of fracking here, are often barely couched in jokes. They are straightforward positions of disgust and despair.
Yes, he will be sorely missed on tv. Especially during the election in 2016. But hopefully retirement will allow Letterman to sound his political pragmatism even more frequently. I think it's his concern as a parent and plain speaking midwesterner that make his message so compelling. Letterman's "zetzes" are always wonderful, but it's these extemporaneous editorial moments that are the measure of his
comedic humanism.

(55,981 posts)The one word was VODKA. Of course on edit it was change to something stupid like "plastic" or something like that.
Straight VODKA with no ice. It's the contaminated ice that will kill you.
