Is Goodwill a Government Funds Sucking Machine.

In the past year my wife has attended at least 20 Goodwill job finding skills related events at the regional office. Mostly the events are designed to update and modify resumes. Mock interviews and enhancing something called a 60 second commercial.

When she hit a certain amount of participation they added her to a weekly job hunters list.

She has taken the direction of these list and have applied for at least 15 jobs and never had an interview. When she talks to her GW contact they either ignore her or tell her that the company has not started interviews and then weeks go by.

Recently she applied for a job she is well qualified for and was told that a strong rec was put in for her to the manager and the result after two weeks... no interview... this also happened when she applied for a position at a local Goodwill outlet store.

I told her that I think she is a number that has a government subsidy $$$$ amount attached to it that Goodwill uses to buy all these new assets(trucks, new buildings, more management staff)... am I wrong???

“Goodwill is funded by the government”

Goodwill’s primary source of funding comes from its retail stores and donated goods (72%). Other sources of funding for Goodwill include contract jobs (10%), rehabilitation services (11%), public support (4%) and miscellaneous other sources (3%). Although Goodwill does have some government contracts, Goodwill itself is not funded by the government or the state.

so, yeah. you're wrong.
