A new poll shows former secretary of state Hillary Clinton's (D) numbers hitting their lowest point in six years.
Meanwhile, it finds that the Republican Party is experiencing something of a renaissance.
The Fox News poll, from Democratic pollster Anderson Robbins Research and GOP pollster Shaw & Company, shows Clinton's favorable rating dropping to 49 percent, compared to 45 percent unfavorable.
The last time her numbers were in that ballpark was during the 2008 Democratic presidential primary race. After she ended her campaign, her favorable/unfavorable split was 47/46.
Other polls have shown Clinton's numbers -- which were stellar during her time as secretary of state -- steadily dropping since she left her post last year.

(24,689 posts)I have mixed feelings about Hillary but the more the Rethugs try to trash her the more I want her.

(39,369 posts)The Republicans are many things, but they do understand the potential for a political beatdown. Their fear of her is only outweighed by their hatred.

I have found the more moderate Republican women I know to be pretty excited about voting for her. Not tea-party types, but the Junior League types.

(28,762 posts)It really doesn't matter what I say, (she's will probably run) but I don't think she is our best candidate to win the election. But who am I, other than an old man just stating his opinion.

(59,501 posts)in the primaries - where there are many candidates? This has been true for over a year. Look at pollingreport, com - click on link for Democratic primary.
I am not a Clinton support, but realistically unless something drastic happens - either to lower Clinton or create a huge surge to someone else - the nomination is hers for the taking. In fact, one look at how solid that is (beyond HRC's own numbers) is that when people were asked who they would vote for if she did not run - 49 % shifted to Biden.
This suggests to me that people are looking for a continuation of the current administration and they want experience. Biden is incredibly well known - he has been VP for 6 years and ran for President twice - yet when HRC is included, he is far behind. That he is the one that surges when she is removed from the list counters the idea that there might be someone who is seen as an exciting choice that is rejected for the more comfortable sure shot.
As to the poll, not that HRC still EASILY wins all the head to head matchups they tested. As to the favorability numbers, I suspect they are simply an outlier - which will happen from time to time.

The comments by the chairman of News Corp. and 21st Century Fox, published yesterday, won't shock those who closely follow New York politics. While Murdoch's New York Post once relentlessly bashed the Clintons back in the day, he reached a rapprochement with her in 2006. Murdoch hosted a fundraiser for Hillary's Senate reelection campaign. She expressed her gratitude and appeared along with Murdoch at a Georgetown party for "Fox News Sunday."
