Charlottonians, or whatever you call yourselves, just want to tell you that

I am really impressed with Lynx, (a rapid transit system in Charlotte, NC.

See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_Rapid_Transit_Services).

I rode it last night when I went to see the Boss. It is quick, inexpensive, and saved me as well as many other people a lot of aggravation in the form of additional driving and parking headaches.

I would expect that many people who work in Charlotte really appreciate it too.

Way to go, yall! Something SC ought to copy.

Also took requests from the audience. "Louie Louie," "Mustang Sally", "Brown Eyed Girl."

Later on he sang some of his older songs. He must have amazing energy!

There seemed to be several angles they tried to play:

- The anti-urban "we don't want no big-city type trains" troglodytes

- The anti publicly funded anything crowd

- It offended the sensibilities ( such as they are ) of the "all sprawl, all the time" cabal of developers whose vision was/is to see Mecklenburg county covered in asphalt of more and more car-based suburbia. more and more roads connecting McMansion neighborhoods with more and more retail development.

I remember people canvassing with petitions trying to stop it. They never came right out and said it was anti-Lynx: They went around asking questions like "Are you interested in lowering your taxes?" "Are you concerned with the quality of life here?" "Are you concerned about crime" ( As if the sole purpose was to shuttle hoardes of gang bangers to "nice areas" ) Stuff like that.

Six million people and we have 48 mi of rail, 38 stations, 2 counties. Pitiful.

I've met scores of RW bigots that thought they were so clever with their "definition" of what the MARTA acronym was. I'm sure we've all heard it.
