Iowa has never elected a woman to Congress or to the governor's office. Organizers of a party planned for Thursday in Carroll hope to change that soon.

According to information provided by the organizers, the NUDGE — No Use Delaying Gender Equity — party will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carrollton Inn in Carroll.

The event is hosted by former Lt. Gov. Art Neu, a Republican, and C.J. Niles, a Democrat and former director of the Iowa Department of Economic Development.

Women interested in running for public office in Iowa are invited to attend and explore their political futures. The general public also is invited.
