I think the most important day of the year to the most predominant religion in the US counts as big news.

And to my understanding the hosts have a right and duty to use their better judgement and generally err on the side of not locking threads with lots of discussion.

Let the believers have their celebration. We nonbelievers have our own zombie jesus thread, and they were gracious enough not to lock it despite also potentially violating the SoP.

Such a nice day! Just happy all around! The boys are still in town (next tour doesn't start til Friday night), daughter and boyfriend are coming back tomorrow from Coachella, my best friend's in town, sunshine and not too hot, heard from my sister, really a lovely day! And the birds are all back, eating the birdseed I scattered, and there are eggs in the little nest tucked up in the eaves near the front door! That little nest suddenly appeared a year ago, and soon enough there was a little bird nesting in it. The eggs hatched conveniently right around Mother's Day! The babies grew and thrived and left about a month or so later I think, and it's been empty since then. BUT! Now somebody else has moved into the nest and it's the same species. We think it's either the parents again, from last year, or it's their hatchlings all grown up! Good times!

Everybody's happy and having a really lovely mellow enjoyable stress-free day (for a change!)! We usually have a houseful of people, but still, blessings great and small! Wonderful way to celebrate the Resurrection!

It's and odd Easter for me. My stepfather passed away on Good Friday after a prolonged illness. And while is suppose I consider myself an agnostic, he was a devout Catholic. And if there is a heaven I would hope he is there looking down. He was a wonderful man who will be missed dearly. But his passing has brought a large portion of my family together for this holiday and for that I am especially grateful. I hope all is well with you. As I have posted before, I believe you to be one of DU's nicest posters!

My father, myself, eldest brother and SIL all sang in the church choir. There were 14 family members at our house for Easter dinner and the weather was sunny and 70° (after getting 9" of snow last Thursday and Friday).
