Ted Cruz's Father Tells Him 'God Has Destined You For Greatness'
SUBMITTED BY Brian Tashman on Monday, 7/22/2013 1:20 pm

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz stumped in Iowa over the weekend, and his father Rafael Cruz was promoting his son’s possibly presidential candidacy to pastors and local Republican leaders during his trip. In fact, he said in an interview with Chrsitian Broadcasting Networks’ David Brody that he told his son: “You know Ted, you have been gifted above any man that I know and God has destined you for greatness.’ And I started making declarations about the Word of God to him every day.”

He goes on to suggest that his son is destined to save freedom in America, and even Brody called Cruz’s political career “a thing of God.”

As we’ve noted, Rafael Cruz is a Religious Right activist himself , and he also revealed to Brody that he was active in the Religious Roundtable.

The Religious Roundtable was founded by Ed McAteer and included leaders like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Phyllis Schlafly and Paul Weyrich. The group also helped launch Ronald Reagan’s bid for president in 1980 and hosted the conference where he quipped, “I know you can’t endorse me, but I endorse you.”...more

He wasn't that direct, but what does it do to someone when you take everything they have and leave them nothing, giving it all to only the true believers? That is what his father and his church proclaim, expecting to get the spoils from those killed by this depravity.

Cruz and his ilk want to get rid of government, create catastrophic poverty and cleanse the land for the alleged righteous ones of their version of god.

Cruz was educated at an ivy league school, 'anointed' at his megachurch and always been worshipped by them and his followers. It doesn't matter what he does, it's all where he was put in life.

Unfortunately, that is the view of many political groups now, Libertarians to the old patrician GOP and some of the Tea Party. And there is noreasoning with them, because if you don't agree, you are their enemy.

whether right or wrong. I hear it from people all the time. They don't want to vote for Democrats because they don't "stand for anything." When you remind them that the Republicans stand for all the wrong things, they usually agree, but they say that at least they know where the Republican is coming from. They seem to feel that above all else, they want to know what to expect from their 'leaders.'

This is the very reason why I think Democrats should display traditional Democratic values when running for office. They should stress the differences between their positions and those of the GOPer. I think that the average American today thinks that the Republicans are nuts, they just feel like the Democrats aren't a suitable alternative because they're an unknown.

Democrats too often let the other side define their positions on the issues instead of speaking out about what they believe in. People think that the Democrats are hiding something, that they have a secret agenda. Put the facts out there, and go on the offensive for a change.

I think Ted Cruz is full of poo -- as is his "prophet" Daddy. (I mean the daddy who told his congregation that son Teddy was the new King David, not the Big Daddy in the Sky.) But it's very important that "quotes" like this be sourced or, barring that, admitted to be interpolations of a twisted mind.

He may actually have said the words, exactly as they are. If he did, we need to know that, because if he did, he's crazier and more potentially dangerous to us all -- and to the nation -- than I had thought. if he didn't actually say the words, we need to know that the post is just a parodic swipe at a very foolish, ignorant, religious a-hole.

Rafael Cruz: Yes, but you know something, it is not something that started a couple of years ago. Let me just go back to when he was maybe four. When he was four I used to read Bible stories to him all the time. And I would declare and proclaim the word of God over him. And I would just say, ‘You know Ted, you have been gifted above any man that I know and God has destined you for greatness’. And I started making declarations about the Word of God to him every day. When he was eight years old I was very active in an organization called the Religious Roundtable.

This has been a tactic used by low-intelligence right wingers to obtain their information for quite some time. That it's now being used by those on the left is a bit disconcerting.

The problem apparently is that people don't want to be bothered with actually READING stuff. Just throw some words on a picture. THAT is okay. Requires much less actual thinking.

DU is generally sensitive to stereotyping except for the mentally ill.

Why, is it that supporting language that promotes discrimination against this class of people is OK?

I really don't understand this.

DUers support the interests of ethnic, gender, and religious minorities, but somehow -need- to be able to use the mentally ill as an avatar of disparagement. Disparagement leads to discrimination.

The uses of thorazine:

Schizophrenia -- to help control schizophrenia symptoms, including hallucinations and other problems

Nausea and vomiting -- to help control nausea and vomiting, particularly very severe nausea and vomiting, including for nausea and vomiting associated with porphyria.

Restlessness and worry before surgery -- to help calm those who are agitated or excessively worried about a surgery

Tetanus -- to help control muscle spasms associated with tetanus

Mania symptoms in people with bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression) -- to help control manic symptoms (especially psychotic symptoms)

Hiccups -- to cure hiccups that have not responded to other attempts at relief

evere behavior problems in children -- to help treat extremely severe hyperexcitability in children who become easily combative and explosive without being provoked

Severe attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children -- for short-term use only in children who are especially physically hyperactive.

NONE OF THESE IS INDICATED FOR THE TREATMENT OF TEAPARTY MEMBERSHIP.
