My wife and I were married in 1980 and all we heard from her parents was how wonderful Ronald Reagan was. She was a dyed in the wool Republican, but in later years specially during Shrubs reign, she was changing her tune. Later just before she could no longer express herself, she was changing even more.
She was 86 years old. Lived through the Depression, World War II, Vietnam etc. Has seven children, 10 grand children and two great grand children Our grand sons). My wife is a twin and was the last of the seven children to arrive home. She got there 12 hours before she died. It almost seemed as if she waited for my wife to come home. May she rest in peace!

(14,557 posts)I adored my mother-in-law who was also a Republican. We agreed to disagree which taught a young
woman (me, way back when) how to compromise.
I still had plenty of people I could shout out to on how much I despised reagan.

(255 posts)My inlaws are also Democrats who think they're Republicans due to their preacher's preaching. Both are not long for this world and we'll miss them terribly when they're gone.

Was an amazing thing to witness.
Sorry for your loss. Sounds like she had a rich full life.

We lose that older generation and realize that now we are at the top of the family tree.
Rejoice in her memory.
