Missouri Republicans Advance Effort To Impeach Gov. Nixon Over Same-Sex Tax Returns

The Missouri House Judiciary Committee will hold hearings Wednesday on three articles of impeachment proposed by House Republicans against Gov. Jay Nixon (D).

State Rep. Nick Marshall (R) is attempting to impeach Nixon for a November 2013 executive order that required the Missouri Department of Revenue to accept joint federal income tax returns from same-sex couples who were married legally in other states. Marshall argues that the governor's action violates the state constitution’s 2004 amendment that banned same-sex unions.

One of seven Republican co-sponsors of Marshall’s measure, state Rep. Mike Moon, filed a separate article seeking to remove the governor for not filling vacant legislative seats quickly enough.

The third attempt to oust Nixon is being advanced by state Rep. Rick Brattin (R), who claims the governor did not adequately punish officials at the state Department of Public Safety for releasing the names of more than 163,000 Missourians with concealed weapons permits to a Social Security Administration agent last year.

tent. There was a time when the republican party had some good ideas and added balance to the country, but that was a long long time ago. Now, all the republican party wants to contribute is perverse hatred. They really need a new name and just outright brand themselves "The Party of Hatred!" It's hard to come up with anything the republican party does not hate, other than their their sheer enjoyment of persecuting others.

He of course cant say it that way, but about how radical they are.

Obama was elected 8 yrs too early, Hillary first for 8 yrs would have tired out the haters, they would have hated her just as much for being a woman and by the time Obama was elected in 2016 the white haters would be tired and almost gone.

all of the hatred from the republican party. It's tiring, boring and totally unproductive. And, they NEVER seem to have any decent solutions to anything, than falling back on hatred, discrimination and harming someone, some group as best they can. Eisenhower, for example, would not even be considered as a candidate these days. Frankly, most republicans when they speak today sound utterly stupid, unintelligent and grossly lacking in knowledge.

Realize they do believe Obama is a socialist or commie, even though the Koch Bros have doubled their fortune while he has been Prez

So their brains are literally full of not a single true fact abut anything important, and they believe their lies with the same aggression and faith that we believe the truth.

It is a very bad situation.
