They really are despicable. That picture up there? President Obama and Sen. Mark Udall looking dismayed and upset, ostensibly about Obamacare? That's a screenshot from an ad from the Kochs' Americans for Prosperity. Here's where they took that picture from:
Yep, that's about as classless as you can get, attacking the president and the senator with a picture taken when they were visiting victims of a mass shooting in the hospital.
...Some of the families of the victims of the Aurora shooting are demanding that AFP take the ad down. Via email, here's their statement:

The image is from a July 2012 appearance Obama made with Udall, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, and other state officials at a hospital treating victims of the July 20, 2012, Aurora movie theater shooting.

...Some of the families of the victims of the Aurora shooting are demanding that AFP take the ad down. Via email, here's their statement:
"The use of an image taken from the President's visit to Colorado to meet with us after our children were killed in the Aurora Theater shooting is an utter disgrace. And to insinuate the somber expressions were for anything other than their compassionate response to our heartbreak is beyond unconscionable. Americans for Prosperity is exploiting our tragedy for political gain and this ad should be pulled from the air immediately. We hope Colorado television stations will exercise sound judgment and not air this ad until AFP removes the image."

Update: In a statement, AFP called the image unfortunate and recut the ad.
The image used was an unfortunate oversight which was immediately corrected as soon as it was pointed out, said AFP spokesperson Levi Russell. The purpose of the ad is to continue to hold Senator Udall accountable for turning a blind eye to the more than 300,000 Coloradans whose insurance pans were cancelled due to ObamaCare, despite promises from President Obama and Senator Udall that they could keep them.

WHENEVER the following shit issues forth: "...for turning a blind eye to the more than 300,000 Coloradans whose insurance pans were cancelled due to ObamaCare, despite promises from President Obama and Senator Udall that they could keep them.
SERIOUSLY, GOP? Since WHEN did you guys start caring about people getting their insurance cancelled?
"SERIOUSLY, GOP? Since WHEN did you guys start caring about people getting their insurance cancelled? "
...they realized that their other despicable actions were a failure.
Right still pushing dont enroll crusade
By Steve Benen
Of all the things conservatives have done to sabotage and derail the Affordable Care Act and good lord, is this a long list nothing seems quite as offensive as the rights campaign to encourage those without coverage to stay uninsured, on purpose, to advance an ideological cause.
Regular readers may recall that we covered this quite a bit over the summer. Conservatives launched organized efforts to convince the uninsured to voluntarily refuse to enroll because if fewer people participate in the system, costs would soar, and in theory the system could become unsustainable. Struggling families will of course be completely screwed in this scenario, but for the right, thats a small price to pay and a sacrifice theyre willing to see others make.
Eric Lach, referencing a report from the Alaska Dispatch, noted yesterday that the campaign is still very much underway. Indeed, it appears far-right Floridians are now lobbying Alaskans to stay uninsured on purpose.
Even by the standards of contemporary conservatism, theres something morally bankrupt about wealthy far-right forces targeting struggling Americans and telling them to go without access to basic health on purpose apparently because they dont like the president.

The websites, dontenrollalaska.org and knowthefactsalaska.org, strike different tones and do not identify their creators, but they share similar layouts and were created on the same day in September. Facebook pages for both groups were also created on the same day, and, according to the Dispatch, television ads for both groups have been running during the same commercial breaks in Alaska.
And while the websites dont identify the creators or backers of either group, a representative from the Alaska chapter of the Koch brothers-backed Americans for Prosperity told the Dispatch that a group called the Foundation for Government Accountability was directly involved in both websites.
Based in Naples, Fla., the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit that promotes public policies that achieve limited, constitutional government and a robust economy that will be an engine for job creation across the states. One of the foundations directors is Robert Levy, the chairman of the board of the Cato Institute, the Washington, D.C. think tank with a long and complicated relationship with the Koch brothers.
Even by the standards of contemporary conservatism, theres something morally bankrupt about wealthy far-right forces targeting struggling Americans and telling them to go without access to basic health on purpose apparently because they dont like the president.
