Child Accused of Fatally Shooting Brother

A nine-year-old Hastings, Nebraska boy has been taken into custody for the shooting death of his four-year-old brother. Beau Pecor was shot to death last Friday.

The Adams County Attorney says the investigation of the shooting has determined that Beau’s brother filed the deadly shot.

Prosecutors have filed a juvenile petition with an allegation of manslaughter against the nine-year-old.

Adams County Attorney Donna Fegler Daiss said, "This is a first, it is. You know it was very hard for us to figure out one, should we file anything with the court? Did that need to be done? And after looking at all the evidence and facts that law enforcement has accumulated over the last week, we truly believe that court intervention is necessary.

It's more like he had easy access to a gun and fired it, being too young to understand the consequences. It's not his fault - it's the fault of whoever left the gun out for use.
