Democratic Dallas County judge gives rapist probation instead of jail time

A Dallas County judge Thursday sentenced a man to five years of deferred adjudication probation for the on-campus rape of a fellow student at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

Sir Young, now 20, pleaded guilty and asked state District Judge Jeanine Howard to decide his sentence instead of a jury. He faced up to 20 years in prison but now will not have a conviction if he meets the terms of his probation.

Young was 18 when he and a 14-year-old girl kissed inside a music practice room at the downtown Dallas magnet school. He then forced her to have sex despite her repeatedly saying “no” and “stop,” according to testimony.

Howard ordered Young to spend 45 days in jail as a condition of his probation. He must also spend the anniversary of the rape — which occurred Oct. 4, 2011 — in jail while he is on probation. The judge ordered Young to provide 250 hours of community service at a rape crisis center.

And yes, Howard identifies as a Democrat. Here's her campaign page:

I don't see where race enters into it, but that rapist has no business being anywhere near a rape crisis center, I'll agree on that.

Hell, yes! I can't imagine what use this person* would be in a Crisis Center. He should be, at least, in mandatory psychological counseling.

* I changed the uglier, charged term I'd originally typed to a more generic term of "person".
