What youve suspected all along turns out to be true: Americas robust middle class has become nothing more than a footnote to history. A new study shows that, for the first time since Jesus and his pet dinosaur were prancing through the Garden of Eden and writing the Constitution, Americas middle class has lost the honor of being #1 in terms of income. In fact, poor people in other countries are making more money than poor people here. But, thankfully, the rich are getting richer, so dont worry about it.
Unless youre McDonalds.
McDonalds thrives on selling toxic cheeseburgers to the middle class, and it reported last week that U.S. sales dropped 1.4% (dont cry for Ronald yet sales were up in countries that still have a middle class).
Since McDonalds does everything it can to avoid paying middle-class wages, theyre going to make some lemonade out of this lemon by introducing new menu items. Some of these will appeal to its less well off customers while other offerings will be higher-priced products to keep drawing in customers who are prepared to spend more.
Lets just hope that the people going to McDonalds for a McMignon lunch wont have to stand in line with all those degenerates fighting for a McPigSnout McMuffin or Happy McDustbowl Meal.

(382 posts)Have to admit that what they call food sometimes helps a hangover, but it kills people and they kill their employees by suggesting they get a second job rather than giving them enough in hourly wages to even afford their poisonous food.

(10,893 posts)Micky D's--virtually ALL of the food chains underpay their workers and sell unhealthy food. The CEOs and owners obviously are not willing to pay their employees more, so the way for us to respond is through electing more Congressional reps who favor raising the minimum wage.
Another thing I would add here is that while their food is indeed pretty unhealthy (or "toxic" , having a bite there or at Burger King or somewhere else is fine as long as one doesn't eat that stuff everyday and as long as the person exercises regularly. For example, I have fast food a few times a month, but I'm still in shape.

(1,198 posts)It's not just McDonald's but an epidemic among any kind of US "value" retailer. Taxpayers subsidize these company's workers (see "working poor" because they won't pay employees a working wage. That's what is evil or at least intolerable behavior.
