Christiegate: SEC Now Investigating Christie

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/04/25/1294624/-Christiegate-SEC-Now-Investigating-Christie#

Yowch - not looking good for Christie. From mainjustice.com:

The Securities and Exchange Commission has joined with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office to investigate possible misuse of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey funds by Gov. Chris Christie and his allies, people close to the matter said.

Two SEC Enforcement Division lawyers in the New York regional office are examining the manner by which the Christie administration apparently steamrolled the agency’s top in-house counsel into creating a legal justification in 2011 allowing the New Jersey governor to grab $1.8 billion of Port Authority tax-exempt bonds to fix the aging Pulaski Skyway bridge and other neglected state roadways.

By re-routing the Port Authority funds to local New Jersey roadway repairs, Christie, who took office in 2010, was able to keep a campaign promise not to raise taxes. The diversion of funds allowed him to avoid raising gasoline taxes to refill the depleted coffers of the state’s transportation trust fund.

(snip)

That makes it five (5!) separate investigations. Buh-bye, Guv.

He's gonna blow a gasket. Have you seen his face when he goes off?

Not being political here. That guy needs to drop out and take care of his health.

But I was standing in line in the cafeteria today between two republican d.c.'s and one said to the other - with this guy out in Nevada out there (meaning Bundy I presume) our boy Chris is looking good again.

^that's the thing^ Republicans will overlook anything.

And none of these investigations are moving forward fast enough for any non-Republibots in NJ.

I'm getting really frustrated with the snail's pace this is moving at.

You aren't a Republican. This is in NJ - that's what's crazy. These are the assholes that voted for Christie. I keep seeing polls that he's thought of in a negative light by my neighbors - but I'm not seeing it.

These people think he's going to overcome all of this and make a come back.

They are desperately seeking a savior. I have a niggling feeling though - that the 7th just might flip.

no more rolled up sleeves, raising his voice, insulting, being dismissive, pointing fingers and bullying his constituency. Christie's new tack, is raised eyebrows, a solemn look and a slight tilt of the head. I'm just not buying that orchestrated demeanor.

He is guilty of much...and I am buying that!.

but I want the process to play itself out. I also hope that the investigations take their time to get all of the required evidence so they can get convictions. That lengthy process may also play well to deny him the opportunity to even begin a 2014 presidential campaign.

But even if no crimes have been committed it is clear his style of politics are "brass knuckle". He will use any tactic short of maiming or killing someone (well at least so far) to get his way. That is not the way politics should be played in this country.
