Patton Oswalt Responds To Imbecile Rancher Cliven Bundy.....

Patton Oswalt Responds To Imbecile Rancher Cliven Bundy With Absolute Obliteration

From his FB page:

Very quickly, before my head explodes:

Quite a week for racism. And an even worse week for the apologists.

So can we at least proceed, in the inevitable “think pieces” about Cliven Bundy and Don Sterling, with the following defenses exploded and set aside:

1. Yes, Cliven Bundy was just “wondering” about the state of black people in 21st century AMERICA. And he’s allowed any thought. And we’re allowed to be horrified by those thoughts. Especially the thought that slavery kept black families together. The first thing the slave trade did was separate children from parents & husbands from wives. It was a for-profit goods & services enterprise and the best way to make a buck was to rotate your stock.

So in that case, what Cliven Bundy — a freeloader who receives subsidies from a government he doesn’t believe in– is “wondering” about is wrong. The way a shoplifter who “wonders” if he or she can get away with walking out of a store with a 6 pack of beer under their jacket is wrong. Again, you can have all the shitty, ignorant thoughts & opinions you want. And everyone else gets to call them shitty & ignorant. And maybe try to change your views with reasoned debate which, as you can see by my seething, I’m not attempting here.

Secondly, I’m already starting to see people defend Don Sterling with the, “He’s not racist — his girlfriend is black and Mexican!” line of “reasoning.” I heard this shit said to defend Lou Dobbs (Latino wife) and John Derbyshire (Asian wife).

Does ANYONE but me feel like that’s EXTRA creepy — the “reasonable” white guy generalizing and debasing a race of people based on anecdotal evidence or cherry-picked statistics, who gets a pass because they’ve selected a minority they’ve deemed okay to fuck? By that reasoning, every slave owner who ever raped one of his slaves was as egalitarian as MLK.

I mean, I’m just “wondering.”

Donald Sterling is married to a Rochelle Stein, but has a young and attractive girlfriend that everybody seems to know about? But, he's upset that his mistress is fooling around with black guys, while he's fooling around with her? So, he's not only creepy and racist, but he's cheating on his wife, too.

So he is not concerned that his cheating on his wife and marriage is wrong and an embarrasment but that public display of affection for black people (men) by a girl friend he is cheating with is not acceptable to him and is an embarrasment?

men have thought it was socially acceptable to cheat on their wives since forever. In many cases the wives are with them for the same reason that the "girlfriends" are. Seems to me that he is ok with the minorities that he can control with money.

he doesn't want her bringing dark people to the game. Has to keep his image up, y'know, around his rich, white friends. Jeez, the rich, white, racist mind is complicated.

The highly offensive comments have drawn condemnation from across the National Basketball Association as well as from many other sources; and inevitably, attempts have been made to link him to the Republican Party. These appear to be based on campaign contribution records for a different Sterling, who lives in the state of Texas. Clippers owner Donald Sterling lives in Beverly Hills, has a long history of bigoted behavior in his Los Angeles business dealings, and according to a 2011 RealGM report, was a very occasional Democratic donor in the 1990s:

Donald Sterling, Los Angeles Clippers
Records show Sterling has donated just $6,000, with no activity since the early 1990s. He supported Gray Davis early in his career, as well as Bill Bradley.

Bradley was a Hall of Fame forward for the New York Knicks before becoming a U.S. senator from New Jersey and an unsuccessful presidential candidate

Yesterday on Twitter there were a lot of Repubs who were calling him a liberal Democrat. I hope the story gets straightened out.

liberal or a Democrat. Even more proof they have no understanding of the Democratic party platform or the positions that define a liberal. I'm hoping info will come out that he's donated a bunch of money to a SuperPAC or some other anonymous source. There's no way he supports the Democratic party when it comes to most issues.

Over the past several days I've overheard lots of jaw-jacking from the right wingers at work, and you can really really sense their cognitive dissonance. You can tell they know the guy is an emabarrassment to the right, a first class tool, and makes himself look like an increasingly ignorant jackass the more he talks; Yet they have to, they must, take his side in the name of partisan conservative solidarity. Those that concede he's over the top even slightly are sternly rebuked and reminded they mustn't give an inch to the left.

... between the minority members you KNOW and the way you think all the REST of those minority members are?

As in, "Blacks are lazy. Well, the Johnsons down the street are okay, and of course the Jacksons at church... but, generally, blacks are lazy."

Isn't there a name for that? Besides "racism," I mean.
