You racist, ass hat, bastard piece of shit!
This fucking racist perception that it's only African-Americans on welfare just chaps my hide! It's so fucking full of racist shit I feel like screaming! Here are the actual stats!
Snip> The margin between Caucasians and African-Americans who are on welfare is extremely narrow 38.8 percent of Caucasians, and 39.8 percent of African-Americans are on welfare.

(8,155 posts)Precisely because people of color are subject to greater institutional prejudice and are thus more likely to suffer economic hardship.
But I doubt an utter buffoon like Cliven Bundy could grasp such a "complex" statement.

(19,877 posts)the entire population? For example, if 38.8% of whites are on welfare, and the white population in America is 73%, doesn't that equal far more numbers of whites on welfare than the 39% of black citizens on welfare which make up only 14% of the population?
Also, do those welfare numbers you provided include corporate welfare?

(10,960 posts)The author misunderstood or mis-stated the table she links to in the article in making that statement:

There are roughly the same number of Caucasians on welfare as African-Americans, not roughly the same percentage. So your current headline is right.

(35,148 posts)welfare. It must be 39% of welfare recipients are black and 38% are white. If 38% or 39% of people are on welfare I would have to agree with the Republicans about takers.

(7,234 posts)Many within the Mormon religion drain the WELFARE system of millions in Utah, Arizona and other states, they call it "Bleeding the Beast". Gotta know if Cliven Bundy who is a Morman is a part of this "Bleeding the Beast" movement.
How can one find out if Cliven Bundy filed for welfare in Nevada or Utah the past 20 years?
Allen said the group also collects government assistance for children with disabilities disabilities she attributes to inbreeding in the FLDS community. She claims in the state of Arizona alone, theyre getting between 20 and 30 million dollars a year and most of the members are living off taxpayer money. She interviewed former Attorney General Terry Goddard in her documentary. Goddard told her 80% of the FLDS members are on welfare and more than 4,000 of them have state medical insurance access.

(33,224 posts)38.8% of welfare recipients are white... NOT 38.8% of whites are welfare recipients.
Percent of recipients who are white 38.8 %
Percent of recipients who are black 39.8 %
Percent of recipients who are Hispanic 15.7 %
Percent of recipients who are Asian 2.4 %
Percent of recipients who are Other 3.3 %

(13,598 posts)For example, it labels "A lot of welfare recipients are drug addicts and alcoholics and they stay poor as a result of their addictions." a myth, but then, rather than providing evidence that it is not true, it says
"Fact: Most often, poverty in itself is not caused by addiction, but rather an addiction is the result of falling into poverty. Furthermore, people of all socioeconomic backgrounds suffer from addictions."
which is technically true, but a) does not contradict the thing it claims is a myth, and b) like practically every other sentence I've seen with the construction "people of all socioeconomic backgrounds/races/sexes/ages/nationalities etc X" is a deliberate attempt to deceive and mislead, by obfuscating the fact that there's a strong correlation between being addicted and being poor.
There's also
"Fact: Think again! The margin between Caucasians and African-Americans who are on welfare is extremely narrow 38.8 percent of Caucasians, and 39.8 percent of African-Americans are on welfare."
which I'm deeply suspicious of - are they using an extremely wide definition of "welfare"? Or do they mean "38.8%/39.8% of people on welfare are Caucasian/African American?"
Oh, and the fact that it doesn't provide a shred of evidence for any of its claims...
