Bundy'z Dem rep said militias have set up checkpoints (HW link added)

through which area residents are forced to pass to get to their homes. His constituents have also complained about being fearful of sending their children out because they have snipers on the hills. Told Kornacki this on Hardball Weekend this morning. Said that he was asking Bundy to tell these people to leave. No link yet.

isn't likely to bother some who have desert experience either from our recent wars or because they have been holed up in AZ and the desert areas here. If you go hang out in some of those desert locations for a spell in the "off season" you'll see how many of them are permanently camped out there... rather daunting when you realize it.

I am glad to hear the Sheriff isn't on their side, he'd be in big trouble if he was.

I suspect there will be an end to this before long, law abiding citizens are getting pretty fed up with these deranged buffoons and I'm sure the government is too. But part of the reason the bundy thing has gone on so long is that he threatened this kind of stand off back in the 90s and the feds decided to try and go about it in the courts, but it didn't work.

Frankly, I don't give two shits about how many of them might commit suicide by authorities at this point. They need to be put down as an insurrection and all their enablers should be in jail including Hannity, Ailes and the rest of the loud-mouth-sh*t4brains crowd. I appreciate free speech but this has come to the point of forfeiture of their "rights" because it tramples on the rights of all others.

He did start this shit in the 90s, but it was right after Ruby Ridge and Waco, so I'm assuming the Feds didn't want another PR nightmare on their hands. I actually attended a bunch of militia meetings in Las Vegas at the time and have heard the sovereign citizen lunacy up close and personal.

I have unfortunate acquaintances with a whole bunch of those in Idaho and Montana... only because they are neighbors and some are employers. Long as I don't say anything in their presence, I have places to work... it's a tightrope sort of thing, and most are mormons too (they own a lot of businesses in the region since they see this as their very own zion and all that). But I'm not willing to give up the benefits of where I live because of a crowd of idiots, especially when I can get away from them when I don't have to be at work. I've been hoping to get out of the private sector so I can live here and not have to be beholding to them for income. I might be just that lucky in a couple weeks.

But then, in Idaho I know that some of the public sector folks are members as are some in Montana. It's they way things are in the west, they still want it to be the 1880s.

That's what I describe ex-high-ranking military retirees who think they can still pull rank in civilian life. In Florida communities, it can be a problem. The worst of them will ignore Association documents, for example, and plow ahead with ideas that are forged in consensus groups.

It makes you feel like you're in a war zone, sometimes.

They think that ramming unpopular decisions down our throats is a sign of strength. The truth is that they don't have the background to do the job properly. This is what makes social networking between the public and private sector such a danger in our society. You can add lawyers to the mix who have learned to benefit from propping one of these guys as a leader in the community to push ideas that are downright illegal. Forces you to knock down the sacred cow just to defend your rights.

Fascists are the attack dogs of capitalism. The big bourgeoisie doesn't let them off the leash too often because they are truly "loose cannons" AND some power has to be ceded to them and lost by the other players when they ARE unleashed.

HOWEVER, there's always an element of the big bourgeoisie who thinks they can "control" the fascists or, to use a phrase Hindenburg used when Hitler was installed, they can "work with them". A segment of the owners also think they can also use the fascists to advance their OWN economic agenda. The Kochs and their ilk want mineral rights on governmental holdings AND THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR THOSE RIGHTS. Not even the miniscule amounts the government would charge. Ergo, gin up this fight against big, bad government. The same government that they, BTW, mostly own.

I don't think that the government or at least the powers the own the government under capitalism, will be too quick to restrain these guys. Not until they've served their economic purpose anyway.

In Idaho, Pennsylvania and in other places most of us just don't want to visit.

When the local authorities are outmanned, outgunned, defunded or demoralized, or agree with them, it happens,. This has been encouraged openly and sheriffs and others have been put on notice they will go along or be put out of ofiice.

There is an undercurrent of criminal activity being tolerated. I've seen it up close, they know they have the numbers to hold onto good sized areas of land and they don't hide it. I believe the story, these guys have not left, are holding news conferences and being fed and housed there.

FWIW. I could google and link a number of stories, from ID, UT, PA and WI that were posted on DU, but BS is in the eye of the beholder. Facts don't matter and the law doesn't either when dealing with the special interpretation of the Constitution and BoR that these guys have.

Sun Apr 27, 2014, 01:21 PM
Apr 2014

I believe whats left are felons, people with severe mental issues and maybe even people wanted for crimes in other states who are hiding out on this ranch. All of these people are heavily armed and have nothing to lose, on top of it this "movement" is slowly creeping away from " protectin' " a racist who is freeloading his cattle from the evil gub'mint to ".Hey! lets set up checkpoints on public roads then go out and destroy toll boths and attack dept of forestry employees". They'll probably turn their attention to Vegas soon.

This is going to end unimaginably horribly if these people start branching outside of the compound and start going into towns. The worst case is senario: We have 50 or more Chris Dorners, Adam Lanzas and John Mohamed's loose in the state of Nevada.

The LDS leadership needs to step in and try to get Bundy to end this or excommunicate his ass.

The First Presidency has instructed that disciplinary councils must be held in cases of murder, incest, or apostasy. A disciplinary council must also be held when a prominent Church leader commits a serious transgression, when the transgressor is a predator who may be a threat to other persons, when the person shows a pattern of repeated serious transgressions, when a serious transgression is widely known, and when the transgressor is guilty of serious deceptive practices and false representations or other terms of fraud or dishonesty in business transactions.

Disciplinary councils may also be convened to consider a member’s standing in the Church following serious transgression such as abortion, transsexual operation, attempted murder, rape, forcible sexual abuse, intentionally inflicting serious physical injuries on others, adultery, fornication, homosexual relations, child abuse (sexual or physical), spouse abuse, deliberate abandonment of family responsibilities, robbery, burglary, embezzlement, theft, sale of illegal drugs, fraud, perjury, or false swearing.

https://www.lds.org/ensign/1990/09/a-chance-to-start-over-church-disciplinary-councils-and-the-restoration-of-blessings?lang=eng

*sniff* I'd say publicly lying to the media about how long his family have been grazing on the land, asking armed followers to go out and confront federal agents using firearms, lying again to a Right Wing radio show and denying that he said "the negros" were better off "pickin' cotton, stealing federal land for his own person gains and using slurs like "black boy". "colored people" and "negro".

but who are we kidding, its the LDS. They'll probably excommunicate him for something like "consorting" with that bodyguard who said he'd take a bullet for "Mister Bundy".

and putting it up on youtube.

They are not going to put up with it for long. No one wants to be detained unnecessarily when they want to go about their daily business- most especially not by goons with guns.

BUT...if the Feds have infiltrated - and they of course have insiders by now - they are learning quite a bit about the "strategy" of these sovereign traitors.

To paraphrase the prez:

"When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don't really have to do anything, you just let them talk. That's what's happening here."

These "patriots" are like the runners at the starting line who jump the gun. They thought most of 'Muricca was gonna git behind ol' Cliven. And the revolution would be on.... they've been ready for sooooo long.

But they jumped the gun. So now they are exposed. Probably holing up at Bundy's place because they're too afraid to go back home.

Let them reveal their plans. They can be taken down non-violently that way, and we learn more about how these groups operate.

My .02, which could be merde

Peace.
