From Progress Iowa: We're Smearing Him?

Governor Branstad accused us of 'smearing' him in our latest TV ad... by showing him in his own words!
(cross post from Iowa forum)

You've seen our ad, the one I sent you on Sunday. It shows the Governor denying, and denying, and denying knowledge of the scandals in his own administration.

In a statement to the Des Moines Register last night, Branstad's spokesman "accused Progress Iowa of smearing the Governor and said Iowans know the true Terry Branstad..."

But after Branstad denied knowing about his speeding SUV, the improper influencing of an Iowa judge, and hush money paid for secret settlements to fired state workers, very few believe him any more. According to a recent poll, only 17% of Iowans trust the Governor when he says he had no knowledge of his administration's activities.

We want as many Iowans as possible to see the real truth about Governor Branstad (even if he calls it a smear). Will you donate today to keep our ad running?

Thanks for all you do,
Matt Sinovic

I wasn't wrong when I thought he was lying all those other times when he was governor. I never trusted him and still don't. I think some people have grown up feeling comfortable with lying and truly don't believe they are doing so. Terry is one of them...along with many of his Republican friends and cohorts.

makes me think of the old political adage:
