(14,274 posts)Sterling is immediately barred from attending any NBA games or practices, be present at any Clippers office or facility, or participate in any business or player personnel decisions involving the team.
He also cannot participate in any league business going forward.

(44,555 posts)Doesn't he have to appoint someone in his place in the meantime?
I think his wife is interested in the job -- it would explain why she hasn't divorced him:

they have rules set out by lawyers way above my paygrade
does not matter what the should or should not have done
think it was more defined by what they could or could not do.

(1,269 posts)I think there's trouble in this one. It smells like - 'we don't like you so go away'. We stopped them from behaving this way on our gay community, not comfortable with this one at all.
I thought they'd soft shoe him out. Everybody knows he's an ass, things would have fallen apart piece by piece if they played a sharper legal hand. I have to wonder what the tools are, too.

(44,555 posts)Getting the media attention back onto the playoffs should be the NBA's top priority. Hopefully the "indefinitely" period will involve him finding a replacement owner. If not, both fans and advertisers should start boycotting the rest of the NBA.
And it seems like just a year ago when the playoffs were terrorized by a gay player.

(9,888 posts)all of them. They all knoew what Sterming was like and was doing prior to the fated TMZ leak. Now because of words, sponsors are dropping like flies, the league is acting suprized and offended. They manner in which he became wealthy was suspect enough. More detailed analysis of every owner should be done, but will it?

(47,953 posts)Sterling lives to sue people. He got his start as a lawyer. I suspect he'll get more enjoyment out of the lawsuits than he does from the team. Can't be helped, the NBA did the right thing, but it's going to be messy.

(49,744 posts)the rapidity in which there were actions taken was a very positive sign the seriousness of the situation was recognized and putrid racists have no place in sports or, imo, anywhere else where they can have power and influence.

(49,744 posts)and certainly welcomed by most. The action taken by the Heat players was very powerful, stating quite clearly how all the NBA players felt about Sterling.

There should not BE a next NBA season.
Though it's nice that we won't see his face at the games anymore, it doesn't really stop him from continuing to run things, does it?
rocktivity
Spazito
(49,744 posts)quite quickly. If there isn't enough support from the other team owners then a boycott of all teams whose owner refused to vote for the forced sale would be necessary to send a clear message, imo.
