Here's the message we should take from the Sterling/NBA mess. WE are on the correct side of things.

We - liberals, Democrats...label of your choice - are, on just about every issue, right - as in correct. It is about acceptance of all, promotion/working for the equal rights of all - it is about being empathetic, sharing, working to lift everyone up together. It is about preserving the world we live in for the future. It is about thinking before we act, and thinking of the implications of our acts.

It is the opposite of the greed, "I have mine, screw the rest of you" so-called "philosophy of libertarians, conservatives, republicans. It is the opposite of the use/burn the world now, as long as I have mine. It is the opposite of hiding behind a bible, a church, a belief system.

We can never be complacent, of course - we need to be constantly vigilant - for each other, for those less fortunate than us, for those who are the subjects of all of the various -isms, for the world in which we live.

But as I was listening to the news conference today, it struck me how correct - in the terms of decency, of humanity - we on the left are.

And how utterly, miserably, selfishly wrong - "they" are.

doesn't God choose who becomes rich and who remains poor, and therefore we must accept the way things are and LEAVE GOD'S GOOD AND DESERVING RICH PEOPLE ALONE?!!

Or something like that?
