Critics slam U.S. med student who is selling 'virginity' online

A 27-year-old American medical student, who happened to have grown up in Saudi Arabia, has incited strong reactions after she began auctioning off her alleged virginity online.

The woman, who goes by the name of “Elizabeth Raine,” told Al Arabiya News on Wednesday that despite the criticism, she thinks her actions are not “immoral.”

“It is my virginity; it is my morality that matters. It’s not as though I’m hurting anyone.”

“I also think its really important for people to accept and respect diversity of morality. Intolerance for differences has never led to anything good,” she added.

Has this student ever taken a critical view of why American culture is so screwed up sexually: culture wants virginity but enjoys sexual perversions at once.

America's Insane Attitude Towards Sexual Pleasure

The real story here is how we’re such a hypersexualized, yet pleasure-starved culture. America is a Christian consumer nation bent on policing sexual expression, while selling smut and sanctimony steeped in shame. Profitable sexual transgressions are the norm, yet apparently the only threat to childhood innocence. So conversation about healthy sexuality to combat today’s paradoxical messages must be squashed to “protect the kids.” Conservative culture warriors—aided and abetted by an infotainment media that feeds off of extremes—conflate the progressive push toward sexual freedom and justice with the toxic byproduct of anything-goes commercialism.

It is polemic, an op-ed.

Proof would probably be a poll or attitude survey, stating that virginity is prized by large swaths of the population and sexual perversion (your words) is equally prized.

What do you consider a sexual perversion? Oral sex? Homosexuality? Anything non-missionary?

The Brazilian was a pretty big news story.
