States Would CHOOSE To Begin Tolling. It Would Be A STATE Decision.

“We believe that this is an area where the states have to make their own decisions,” said Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. “We want to open the aperture, if you will, to allow more states to choose to make broader use of tolling, to have that option available.”

1. Congress won't act, so they are handing the problem back to the States.

At least that's what it looks like.

Could become an issue for State Senators.

I haven't even counted the pro-toll posts of hers in other threads. there are other methods that can be utilized to improve highway infrastructure without further screwing working class people.

coming from us all. Product markups include transportation costs, too. Everything is paid for by the working class, in the end.

I'm not a fan of toll roads. I don't see them as user funded, really, and they are a regressive tax, for the most part. Now, if we had dedicated truck routes that were toll roads, then we'd all be paying for them, one way or another.

There is no source of funds outside of the economy. And each of us is in that economy, so any costs end up coming out of our pockets, one way or another.

I see this OP in this thread as being simply information. It doesn't appear to be advocating for or against anything. It's providing information. The information is that the individual states would choose whether to institute those tolls. I don't see any advocacy here, and it's really, really rude to accuse DUers of being paid to post.

Very heavy flow of 18-wheelers from PA to NY on those roads.
