Great news. This has to be stopped.

Thank You Nebraska for standing your ground.
Thanks to the 60 Senators who can hold this vote up.
Hope they don't change their minds

Only 51 are needed to pass. How can you be 60 short when you only need 51?

Or, are you saying it can be filibustered and 60 is needed to end the filibuster? If so, are you saying zero Senators support it?

Sorry, but you have my head spinning.

like there are not a full 60 votes in favor, which would be required if someone filibustered the vote. That means there are at least 41 who oppose but there could be more.

Assuming that 60 votes were needed to proceed, then 60 votes short means none of them support it.

Be quite about that.

Seriously, I hate the way BOTH parties go back and forth on shit like this and act shocked when they are on EITHER side.

Senate supporters of the long-delayed Keystone XL pipeline have introduced legislation authorizing its immediate construction and say they expect the measure will come to a vote in the coming days.

The legislation was introduced by Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Republican Sen. John Hoeven of North Dakota.

In a statement, they said it has the support of all 45 Senate Republicans and 11 Democrats.

The legislation is the latest response in Congress to the Obama administration’s recent announcement that it was delaying a decision on the pipeline indefinitely, citing a Nebraska court case relating to the project.

The House has voted previously to approve construction of the pipeline, which would carry oil from Canada to the United States, where it eventually would reach Gulf Coast states.

This article indicates a slight partisan difference in the Senate as well. 45 out of 45 republican senators are in favor of the pipeline bill. 42 out of 53 Democratic senators are opposed to it.

I'm disturbed that my Democratic senator, Mark Begich, favors this pipeline. He's never met an oil project that he doesn't love.

because a lot of people up here have a touch of that accent, especially in the Matanuska Valley (Wasilla/Palmer). I think it's because a lot of homesteaders from the northern plains were recruited to come here during the Depression and brought their accent with them.
