Rob Schneider: Democracies don't end well. We are sliding very fast towards fascism

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Chris Stigall spoke with comedian Rob Schneider on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about the struggle comedians face in today’s current political environment.

Schneider struck on ominous tone when discussing the path he sees the country on.

“Democracies don’t end well. We are sliding very fast towards fascism. It’s an ugly kind of thing. There’s this kind of mob mentality that we have to be careful of,” he said.

He believes comedians are pressured toward one side of the political spectrum.

“There’s a polarization that’s happening…I do think you look can look at government and go, ‘Wow, it is out of control now,’ and if you do criticize or tend to be not directly along a liberal stand, you can get murdered,” Schneider commented.

Otherwise, if I ever wanted to see such gifts to cinema such as a woman with a penis for a nose "sneezing" into some guy's soup at a restaurant and he unknowingly eats it, I'd be out of luck.*

*Yes, that actually happened in Deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo, shown in all its unedited glory on cable TV. I was merely channel surfing at the time and happened to catch that scene. Thanks, Spike TV.

but I don't get what he's saying about the schools. Obama's administration has been completely against the public schools and replacing them with magnets/for profit. So I think he's wrong about that statement.

Nobody is getting "killed" for not being a liberal, unless he meant that as metaphor. You can get metaphorically attacked by certain parties on this website, for example, if you don't march lockstop with the administration. I think that is unfortunate because many of us have mixed feelings about the president's progress. I couldn't stand his Arne Duncan appointment, for example, but I do think his Supreme Court picks have been good.

please feel free to give examples of where he has helped public schools. I see Arne Duncan focused on breaking the teachers' unions, pushing the for-profit schools as evidenced by the $$$ available for those, and tons of $$$ being spent on standardized testing (which started with Bush and has continued rather than stopped). I'm willing to look at any evidence but in my judgment Arne Duncan has been horrible. JMO. Like I said, I can name other things Obama has done that are good or even great - signing the Lily Ledbetter act, Obamacare (not perfect but better than what we had), excellent Supreme Court picks. Like many things I see it as a mixed bag.

"Administration has worked across several initiatives to support teachers, including by recruiting top talent to the profession, increasing accountability of teacher preparation programs, supporting the rethinking of traditional compensation and advancement models, promoting educator collaboration, and re-engaging communities in their schools."

How are they going to recruit top talent? Are they going to pay more? How are they going to do that? What does "rethinking of traditional compensation and advancement models" mean? How are they going to "re-engage communities in their schools"?

Lots of flowery platitudes but nothing in terms of details in how they will actually accomplish these goals & what affects it will have on people. Public schools in this country are largely run by local school boards. How are they going to attract top talent and pay them in rural areas? The federal government would have to propose grants I would imagine. So far "rethinking traditional compensation" has meant putting Teach for America type inexperienced "teachers" into flailing schools and paying them very low salaries.

I know that Bush started these initiatives but continuing his nonsense is a big mistake.

Once when Satan (and Death another time) comes in, the character so annoys him with the endless nicknames that it drives him out of the office.
