How will this country change if that happens? If you really want to make some predictions - how about if the Repubs take the Senate, House, the Presidency and SCOTUS in 2016.

I'm thinking about all sorts of scary scenarios that would hit us should this happen.

Given all we've been through during the Obama Administration - I can't help but believe that another Republican Administration in 2016 would be worse than any BushCo Administration.

Here's a start:

Obama will be impeached.
Obamacare will be repealed and we'll go back to insurance companies being the death panels.
Social Security will be dissolved.
Medicare will become a voucherized program and if you run out of vouchers - you just didn't manage your vouchers right.
The EPA will be closed.
The pipeline will be built. All kinds of drilling in the Gulf. Fracking will even happen in our city parks. But there will be jobs created to clean up the spills.
Buy munitions stock cause war will be perpetual.

I could go on and on - but I know we have a creative bunch of people here on DU that have even more onerous predictions than these. Have at it - if we put a picture together of how this country would change given a Repub dynasty (Rove's fantasy) maybe this would motivate people to GOTV to prevent this from happening.

Think of the political ad this would make. Maybe Michael Moore can do a Look Into The Future Documentary If The Repubs Win.

2. 1964 Civil Rights Act will be eliminated.

Gay people will be imprisoned.
Right to vote will limited to only white Christian men.
Clean Water and Clean Air Acts eliminated.
Food Stamp program will be eliminated.
Teaching evolution in elementary, high school and college will be a crime.
All mosques in the U.S, will be destroyed.
Birth control pills, condoms will be outlawed.

So my idea is to paint a picture of how ugly life would be if the Dems lost Congress in total (Senate & House) in 2014 and then the Presidency to boot in 2016.

This is what you'll be living under if the Repubs win. We could document most of it because of the statements that are currently on the record that were already made.

With the clown car of candidates that they'll have in the primary just think of how each Repub candidate will try to outdo the other in crazy,

Maybe if we could scare the hell out of the electorate to Get Them Out To Vote.

Even if half of our predictions come true - things will be real scary. Life as we know it will really change.

6. No, what we always do is try to sell people on how evil the other guy is.

The "they're evil!" strategy makes it look like our big selling point is that we suck less. Not very inspiring. We need to make people believe that by voting Dem, they're taking themselves and the rest of the country to a better place, not just declining at a slower one.

4. Dems may not be able to confirm a new SCOTUS nominee. Everyone's income won't go up

because the minimum wage won't be increased. Inflation will continue, however, leaving Americans farther behind. The Repubs will set the rate for student loans again next summer. You decide if the Repubs are better than the Dems at giving college students a better deal.
