Youth is wasted on the young, Candid Camera version (photos from the Wilderness of Rocks - AZ)

Seven young women and men (4 female, 3 male) climbed a rock pinnacle near my fire lookout this afternoon. They basked in the sun and had some fun. Then, to my dismay, one of the guys started ass-clowning for his chums. NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR STUNTS, DUDE!

(ABOVE) Look closely and you can see the group on top of this pinnacle.

Well, they got down and back to the Lemmon Rock #5 trail safely. I was worried about having to call out Search & Rescue. Oh, the things I see from my fire lookout perch! Or, rather, the things my Canon 5D-MKII sees, with a 70-200mm zoom and 1.4X extender!!

I watched them hike out and they seemed very competent. I wanted to get their email addresses to send them some of the many photos I took.

Sheer drops of up to 500 feet on three sides. I look down on the rocks they were on. All of this is in the 8500-9000 foot elevation range of The Wilderness of Rocks, so hiking is not easy for someone out of shape.

dangerous rock formations that are frequented by people..
it amazes me the lengths people will go for a thrill...
and this is even with multiple warning signs.. and hell, monuments to others who got to close and found out the hard way that nature isn't a joke. a few people die there every year, at the very least.
ive lived here my whole life.. would never ever get as close to the edges as some of these folks do. I can almost feel my heart stop right now just thinking about it.
I mean, ive even witnessed folks trying to camp near edges like that.. without any gear, no nothing..
god forbid add alcohol to that mix.. shewie.
