Anti-Gay Marriage GOP Candidate Explains His Past As A Drag Queen

Republican North Carolina State Senate candidate Steve Wiles used to go by a different name — "Miss Mona Sinclair."
Wiles' past life as a drag queen and promoter for the "Miss Gay America" pageant was detailed in a report published by the Winston-Salem Journal Saturday. Business Insider spoke to Wiles, who supports a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage in North Carolina, and he explained why he doesn't consider himself "anti gay" and why he no longer dresses in drag.

"I think that everyone has their own choices to make and I'm fine with everyone making their own. For me, from a religious standpoint, just for my life, for me, it just was not something that I wanted to continue," Wiles said of his drag performances. "Of course it was an embarrassment, but you know, you move on. You live life, and you change, and you make yourself what you want yourself to be. And that's where I am now."
Wiles declined to answer when Business Insider asked whether he considers himself an "ex-gay."

"No, no, I really wont make any comments on that," he said.

Wiles also said he believes the Winston-Salem Journal report was an attack from his opponents whom he described as "looking to take the focus off of their failures," A few hours after the story was published, Wiles published a note on his Facebook page wherein he apologized for having had an "embarrassing" job. In spite of his regrets, with the election days away, Wiles told Business Insider he has no intention of stopping his campaign.

"I mean, there's only three more days," said Wiles with a laugh.

2. Can we please get some consistency here?

First we got anti-government "militia" wackos at Bundy Ranch getting government checks...

...Then Donald Tokowitz Sterling telling his half-Black half-Mexican golddigging girlfriend that he doesn't want her to bring Black people like Magic Johnson to his Los Angeles Clippers games...
...in a basketball league called the NBA which is composed of mostly Black people & his team which is composed of mostly Black people including a Black coach with a Black NBA legend like Magic Johnson who used to play for the Los Angeles Lakers...

...Now we got a drag queen who once promoted Miss Gay America against gay marriage & wants to ban it.

Drag Queen = Gay
The Gayest of the Gays!

Even in that picture I can see the makeup still on him! Even though he's not wearing any.
Even the face he makes looks Drag Queenish!

How is this jackass gonna be against gay anything?

Can we please get some consistency here?
If you're gonna have a viewpoint, at least follow it all the way through.

You hate the government then don't get government checks.
You hate Blacks then don't own a team in a NBA & don't date a half-Black girl.
You're against Gays then don't be a drag queen.

That's not too hard to follow, is it?
Even if you hold a bad position, just be consistent with it.
Make some sense for once!

don't get me wrong, I'm not defending this guy at all. we're talking massive cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy of the first order- not to mention, I suspect, some significant self-hate imposed by religion.

5. I was saying that for humor purposes

I'm referring to drag queens as being unmistakably gay.
I'm not talking about Martin Lawrence dressing up as Big Momma or Tyler Perry dressing up as Madea.
They're just acting a role on the movie screen & getting paid.

I'm talking about those who go to the gay clubs & dress as drag queens as part of the gay culture.
The RuPauls of the world.

When a guy has a Miss Gay America pageant & dresses as a drag queen at gay clubs, chances are about 100% that he's gay himself.
The flamboyantly gay.
That's what I was talking about.

I wanted to make it funny so I used hyperbole.
That's what the 'gayest of the gays' thing comes from.

There are gay men who dress & act in ways expected of a straight man.
They don't act "camp" & such.
You might not look at them at first & say "he's gay" off the bat.

Then there's the other type which by every word, mannerism, & expression are unmistakably gay.
When you see this type, the Gaydar meter starts overloading.
Gay becomes an understatement.

Shoot just looking at that picture of him I can see the gay on him.
It's probably even more noticeable if you see video of the guy talking & walking around.
Sort of like Marcus Bachmann.

7. So I'm wrong to assume that a dragqueen in a gay club hosting a Miss Gay America pageant is gay?
