So, how did your primary voting experience go today?

I gave the Republican poll worker some shit today, and wish I'd done more.
Some years ago both hubby and I re-registered as Unaffiliated here in NC.
But we always request a Democratic ballot.

So, today when I signed in, they first asked if I had ID. Thank you, Republican
a$$holes. But then they hurried up to say I didn't need to show it, they were
just practicing for 2016. Great.

So, then, since I'm registered unaffiliated, they ask which ballot I'd like.
So I say, "how about one of each?" Pretty good laughs from the Dem
poll workers, but the Repub guy says, "Oh, no! You can only have one".
It's a joke, dummy. On you.

So I request a Democratic ballot. And he says, in good Repub fashion, "Democrat".

At the time I thought, you a$$hole, if you're going to work the polls, you ought to
at least learn the name of both major parties. But I didn't call him on it. Next time,
I will. Because this particular guy is always there.

How did primary day go for you?

I have no idea the affiliation of the poll workers, and wasn't asked for ID. The poll worker did point to a print-out highlighting changes to voter law, and mentioned the ID requirement in 2016. I was #68 at about 10:00.

Here are the primary results according to WRAL... it'll be Tillis v. Hagan. And Clay Aiken v. Renee Ellmers.

I usually run into at least one neighbor working the polls.

In my experience, calling for a Democrat ballot is a dead give away
of the affiliation of this guy who is ALWAYS there. It's probably pretty
hard to find Republican poll workers in our county--since the county usually
breaks Democratic about 65% of the time.

a difference. We had a Senator Primary and my Senator is a Dino Dem..and two challengers (we don't know where they came from) were on the ballot. She hasn't been a good representative for Progressive Dem issues...but, she's totally safe...so I voted for one of the two challengers as a protest vote. Hopefully, she will know that this long time Dem Voter (who donated to her on her first run) is very disappointed and would vote against her in her safe Primary for another candidate that had little to offer.

I voted for Dems I knew on the other issues for our State Legislature. The Judges I needed to get from my Democratic Progressives Web Site for their record to figure out which ones would be best for Democratic Principles over RW Conservative.

Poll monitoring showed that there was light turnout. My district is heavily Repug...and the turnout was higher for that crowd observing the voting machine tally around 4:30 p.m.
