2. Poor comparison. Republicans are bad enough by their own achievement.

We don't need to try and compare them to Boko Haram. Beyond existing along a continuum of conservative ideology, they are largely incomparable in ethic or deed.

to young minds is very much like how those monsters in Nigeria want to control girls through controlling the information females get throughout life. Obviously the horror is much different. But the point that it is ultimately about control shows a similarity. I don't disagree with you entirely though. I see it both ways.

7. Liberal Corporatism and Islamic fundamentalism are diametrically opposed at least politically.

By liberal I mean in the classical sense especially as it pertains to Western political philosophy.

Boko Haram and the GOP converge in two key ways. The first is their bend towards authoritarianism. The second is in their unceasing obsession to destroy the other. But beyond that they diverge considerably. Religious fundamentalism denounces the rapture of materialism that the GOP, and many Western political parties, hold dear. That is a fundamental precipice which cannot be covered by even the most thorough comparisons.

I want groups like Boko Haram destroyed and not in some sort of symbolic fashion. I want the group and its members to depart from this Earth. Despite my hatred of the GOP, the severity of my hatred is orders of magnitude lower. I want the GOP to cease to exist through the political process.

Two OPs from earlier today struck me:

Do you know what Boko Haram means?

According to wikipedia it means Western Education is sinful.

They do not believe in educating girls because it offends their culture and is sinful - condemning the girls to hell. They think by kidnapping these girls they are saving their souls. Plus they can make a few bucks selling them.

really are a whole lot of men out there silently suffering because their wife was made manager or got a raise. It is probably pretty rare but with Hillary Clinton running I bet the GOP wants the number of suddenly affected/afflicted men to increase. So the war of feminism will replace the race war the GOP have seeded between all the republicans and all the democrats when Obama was president. They always need a war. Plane and simple.

The far right is in so many places -- not just here in the U.S., but in many countries. There seems to be a force driving movements against women, against education, against knowledge, against facts, against opportunities for all.
