Blue state DU - Please consider helping to fund crucial Senate races in purple/red states.

Kay Hagan's race in NC needs funding to counter the onslaught that is being directed at her. We have the chance to pick up a Senate seat in Georgia with Nunn, too.

GOTV efforts will be crucial to these states as well as to Colorado.

Perhaps adopt a purple/red state day/week/month?

I'm devoting all of my financial support to the NJ 7th this round - not even supporting Alan Grayson this year. The Democratic National Party threw Buono under the bus -as did the state party machine - so we the people of the 7th are gonna bully them this time around -and get our candidate in.

But for those who can - a kick and a rec.

And remember, when you help out a Red State DUer, you help our country.

And if there's more money burning a hole in your pocket, feel free to help defeat pRick Scott int he Florida Governor's race.

How likely it is that a state will swing is a function solely of how close to even it is, not of which way it's tilted.

Solid red states and solid blue states are both less worth spending money or effort on than purple ones.

I somewhat agree with avoiding any waste of money, especially on the hopelessly red, but, there are many exceptions as we are seeing in Georgia.

On edit - I really am not one who believes there are 'hopelessly red' states and do believe that every race should be energetically contested. I shouldn't have worded my earlier sentence so cavalierly.

they see instant victory as the be all and end all reason to run. Many people ran that line about Christie vs Buono 'she's a bad candidate, he's moderate and popular, why waste money on her' they asked. A month later, Christie was embroiled in scandal, and any Democrat who had taken a strong stand against him would have been in an excellent position for the future, and for calling out Christie right now. The Party itself, had it taken a strong stand against him, would look like the Party that tried to warn the world about a crook in office.
I was told by DU moderates that they were happy Christie won 'only extremists are not thrilled with his victory'.
So sure, they see the future, they know that future, and yet they can't see past today's polling. How that works I'm really not sure.

I also see that some in safe states want to direct their money to races they feel they will succeed in making a difference. I acknowledge that not everyone sees it that way.

I am a strong believer in the 50 state strategy - but, I also acknowledge that when Chairman Dean was implementing that strategy, he, too, was prioritizing certain purple states and red states above others. That was reality.

Not much chance of any Dems being elected here in dumbfuckistan - but I do support Dems in red and purple states where it looks like they have a chance. I hope others will too!

She's running for Jay Rockefeller's senate seat in West Virginia. Her opponent (most likely opponent, the West Virginia primary is May 13) is Republican Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, daughter of a popular former governor and convicted felon, Arch Moore. Moore is getting election funds from all of the usual suspects.

Natalie is the current Secretary of State, and has wide popularity in the state. For those of you who believe that the race is hopeless, 2014 polling has shown that Capito can't seem to break 50%. Rasmussen polled 500 West Virginians by phone in February 2014, with Capito at 49% and Tennent at 35%. And we all know that Rasmussen has a decided Republican bias.

Help us elect a good Democrat to the seat of another great Democrat!
