The Most Republican Company? The Makers of Wonder Bread.

The most Republican-leaning company in the country, based on political donations, isn’t Koch Industries. It’s the company that makes Wonder Bread.

The political action committee of Flowers Foods, a Georgia company that produces the pillowy sandwich bread, Tastykakes and Nature’s Own baked goods, has given more than 99 percent of its political contributions since 1979 to Republicans.

I'm surprised that company still exists. I haven't eaten Wonder Bread since, probably, 1964. And I've never had a "Tastykake," whatever that is. So bring on the boycott ... it won't be hard for me!

I grew up in Philly, and always considered Butterscotch Krimpets and Chocolate Juniors the very best snack cakes in the universe.
Tastykake was sold in 2011. I have thought that, the last few years, the Krimpets were more dry or something, wonder if they changed the formula. Now I just won't buy them.

is the 'most Republican'. I am quite sure there are companies who have CEOs who have given 100% of political donations to Republicans.

My now retired father used to run a statewide organization representing the interests of a particular area of business. He was a dreaded lobbyist as well. He donated money to the leaders of both parties and the chairs of particular committees at the state legislature.

Much of his lobbying was to explaine the unintended consequences of bills that would be introduced that affected his members.

And it is in Boston. But you are right that it wouldn't be the most republican company by a long shot.

Wonder bread is basically air packaged with straw and chemicals. Better to go to fresh and easy get bread dough and make your own bread. Takes 20 min costs $1.50 and you get real bread rather than air bread.

Unlike those sanctimonius people in checkout lines who are always looking at what people on food stamps are buying, I doubt they care very much... as long as it's their bread

Not sure if I see this as necessary for a boycott though. I prefer to reserve direct actions for things that are especially egregious, like Chick-fil-A donating to hate group. Packs more punch when you only do them occasionally.
