Response from Delta re: GA's carry anywhere law

I went to the Delta website and wrote that I do not feel safe now at Hartsfield airport and will no longer be giving Delta my business when I travel east. After the fatal shooting of airport personnel at LAX last year, I was surprised they didn't pressure the gov or legislature regarding gun safety. I received this response today:

seriously. We appreciate your sharing your feelings surrounding this
issue and letting us know your concern about this bill. We have shared
your email with appropriate leadership for their internal review.

I don't expect anything to happen because I wrote a letter, but Delta's such a big player in GA, maybe a lot of letters would make some small difference.

1. If Delta threatened to pull out of Atlanta (as its major hub)...

we'd see GA legislators flinging themselves on the altar of gun control--or at least more sane gun laws.

I lived in Atlanta several times in the past. But, even if I an get beyond the bugs, the humidity, the heat and the traffic--the RW politics are just too damned extreme... It would be nice if corporate America would exert some positive influence and not merely further damage.

2. No way will Delta leave ATL.

Their humongous corporate headquarters, training center and museum are right there at the airport. They aren't moving that stuff anywhere. Realistically, you are probably pretty safe from guns once you are inside the secured part of the airport because that's under the jurisdiction of the TSA (yeah, I know), and you aren't allowed to pack heat there, regardless of what GA's ridiculous state law says. But there are a lot of other reasons to avoid that airport and the whole state.

Georgia is insane. 'Sorry for my sister and others that continue to live there, but I hope sanity may some day return to the politics there--and I strive every day to keep those same factions contained in Colorado.

I used to work for them (previously NWA). After the merger they moved my job to ATL so I took early retirement; I did not want to leave nice blue MN to live in GA. ATL is a dump and the state's political climate is awful.

it's not a bad place to live. Sorry you feel that way.

But I didn't see any of them in my visits there. Also, the traffic is awful and the climate way too hot and humid for me. Glad you like it there; I don't think I would.

And be prepared to change your travel plans if you fly.

44 States allow lawful carry of firearms in the common terminal and baggage claim areas of airports. There are federal laws that restrict firearms, knives, and other weapons in the "sterile area" beyond the security checkpoint but the unsecured areas of the terminal are subject to state law.

6. What about LAX causes you to go after Delta in GA?

Regulations concerning the transport of arms allow for possession up to check-in. Thereafter, arms are checked in, and must be secured, unloaded, in an FFA-approved hard case at owner expense. The empty gun flies under the passengers. I believe this holds true for all airlines in most states, and has been the case for many years. In any event, this was in California, not known for liberal gun laws.

14. shhhh... the OP is AGAIN proving

that her/his response is based on emotion not fact. this was pointed out a couple of days ago... but the same 'logic' is being used. if this person really understood that 44 states have similar laws regarding the possession of fire arms in public places in airports they wouldn't be able to make this post sound nearly as dramatic... nor would they be able to fly pretty much AT ALL if they were really as concerned as they are making out to be.

(I'm talking property permitted people carrying concealed) and a restaurant and a haircutters and on the sidewalk and driving on the highway, but the airport just puts you over the edge?
