The President should be impeached.

There, I said it. It might not be a popular opinion, but let's look at the facts:

1. The President openly lied to the American people to support an invasion of a sovereign nation - making up evidence to peddle an idea they were a legitimate threat to the United States' security.

2. The President ignored pressing national security intelligence that indicated Osama bin Laden, a known anti-American terrorist, was poised to strike the United States via air travel.

3. Violated U.S. and international law by authorizing the torture of thousands of captives.

4. Gross economic and humanitarian negligence.

5. Exposed the identity of CIA agent Valerie Plame, putting her life in danger.

6. Oversaw the potential cover-up of the worst attacks in American history - one that resulted in the deaths of thousands.

Need I go on?

and how's that working out?

Bush / Cheney should be more than impeached. They should be in The Hague for war crimes.

he lost an EP-3E sigint aircraft to the Chinese. Two dozen crew were held for ten days, and the plane was finally returned, disassembled, three months later.

A bit of history, for the young 'uns.

He blew off all intel leading up to it, visited a school while it was ongoing and read to school children, let the Bin Laden family fly out while all other flights were grounded, used it to install a total police state, kidnapped, tortured and imprisoned untold number of innocent brown people around the world, killed thousands of iraqis and american troops over lies, let people drown or starve to death in New Orleans...

#Benghazi ...never forget eh?

11. bu$h didn't read to the schoolchildren-- they read to him

The school had released a video of bu$h's visit on its web site that was taken down shortly afterward. It showed an almost surreal scene of 2nd grade children reading in unison from "The Pet Goat" (not "My Pet Goat&quot , while bu$h just sat there with this odd expression on his face.

12. I'm 1,000,000% convinced he lied about what Andrew Card whispered into his ear.

He claims that Card said "A second plane has hit the towers; America is under attack" yet Card immediately walks away, not even expecting to get any response from Bush.

Wait, you just told the commander-in-chief that the nation is being attacked, and don't expect any orders??

Wait, your aide just told you that the nation is under attack, and you don't have any orders, or even questions, for him??

Not to mention that Card must have been doing some serious speed-talking, to get all those words out in that one split-second.

I call bullshit. At the very least, they knew it was an attack before the 2nd plane hit. They rewrote the story to create talking points that made it sound like they thought the first plane was an accident. The reasons for this lie are unknown to me, but they definitely lied about it.

Card would have had to talk like an auctioneer to get all of that out of his mouth in his 1 1/2 second whisper. And then, as you said, he just walked away, and neither one of them showed any sense of urgency. bu$h claimed that he didn't do anything at the time because he didn't want to "scare the children" or some such nonsense, but he then used kids as a backdrop for the speech that he gave when the reading lesson was over. He also claimed to have seen the first attack live on a TV that was "obviously on" in the school hallway (although he had arrived at the school after the first tower had been hit) and shrugged it off as a minor accident that was caused by "one lousy pilot".

If Al Gore had exhibited the same type of behavior, he would have been drawn and quartered by the media and Congress, while facing a litany of Congressional hearings, subpoenas, and calls for impeachment.

10. Naivete

The naivete of this thread is scary. As the CEO of a major American corporation once told me: "All it took to become president and CEO was to step on 850,000 people." Life is dangerous. Life getting to the top and staying there is nearly fatal. Boy Scouts have not gone to the White House since Mr. Smith went to Washington. And Republican pots calling Democratic kettles black is boring bullshit. Wake up. Grow up. Get off your PC and into your precincts, Dems. Elephants...stay the course; you're going down.
