I don't think there's anything significant they will find; what they will do is waste everyone's time. But they have spent the past 4 years wasting everyone's time in Congress - endless Obamacare repeal votes, budget standoffs, fighting good legislation like Dodd-Frank, stopping appointments, and so on. Their overriding purpose has been to impede government, and they still get loads of votes. This will just be more of the same.

What problem for the Republicans can you foresee when the hearings turn up nothing new? When all they can report is "the government didn't know what was happening in every street in every foreign country on every day, after all?"

A Republican politician is a waste of space, but that doesn't matter to Republican voters. We will say, once again, they are idiots who need to go back to kindergarten to learn to play well with others, but that's hardly a 'Waterloo'.
