A vinyl peace sign installed at a playground in Mystic, Connecticut, dedicated to a victim of the Sandy Hook shooting was stolen last week by a man claiming that the Newtown massacre never happened.
After stealing the 50-pound sign from the Grace McDonnell playground, the man called McDonnells mother saying he did it because he believes the shooting at the school was a hoax, according to CBS2.
According to the mother, Lynn McDonnell, the man told her that her daughter never existed.
Grace McDonnell was one of twenty children killed by 20-year-old Adam Lanza when he went on a shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary on December 14, 2012. Lanza also shot and killed six adult staff members and his mother.
Sandy Hook truthers believe that the Newtown shooting never occurred or was part of a false flag operation designed to open the door to the confiscation of all guns by the government.
The Grace McDonnell playground is one of 26 planned playgrounds being built by the Where Angels Play Foundation in honor of all 26 victims.
The latest incident comes two weeks after another playground sign, located in Hartford, was vandalized with someone spray-painting Peace to Sandy Hook, a peace sign, and the numeral 2′ on it.
Signs at both locations are being replaced.

Aerows
(39,961 posts)You brought that into this thread and now are trying to pretend you didn't. This was a horrible tragedy, the story is a horrible tragedy, and you are trying desperately to make it about President Obama so you can silence any person that dares to breathe a word of criticism, when there isn't even any criticism of the President in this thread.
Come on, now.

and yes, CT about Newtown, it doesnt make me happy that we have INSANE FUCKS running around opposing anything and everything good just because Obama is somehow connected to whatever it is
it makes me real mad that AFTER newtown NOTHING could be done about guns, which is more about gun manufacturers willing to kill people for profits than it does to do with Obama, but the CONSPIRACY THEORY that NEWTOWN DIDNT HAPPEN , that theory DOES NOT EXIST IF ANYBODY ELSE IS PRESIDENT
a war has been declared against america by the american taliban, at every turn their rear their ugly, racist heads...

(26,549 posts)The conspiracy nuts believe the Obama administration is out to take away everyone's guns, and set up a fake mass shooting to do so.
No irrational hatred of Obama, no conspiracy theory.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)But good for you, creating an interesting narrative.
Yes, everyone that has ever criticized an Obama Policy is a conspiracy nut, wants to take away everyone's guns (or maybe hand them out, I can't tell) and ...
You kind of lost me on that last one, but good for you! You have the gold medal for "reasons why people disagree with President Obama on policy." Please don't be upset that I mention that I dislike his tie, but really love his shoes.
jeff47
(26,549 posts)Nope. That's a claim you're inventing out of whole cloth.
These particular conspiracy nutcases believe in a particular conspiracy theory. That doesn't mean all critics believe in conspiracy theories.
Though you're doing a great job with the paranoid delusions and self-aggrandizement required.

(55,445 posts)That he concocted the whole tragedy with Hollywood effects to sway congress and public opinion in favor sweeping gun confiscation?? (or to distract the public from Benghazi or some other scandal?)
I've seen a few 'variations' of the conspiracy from the Alex Jones crowd and other unsavory parts of the internet, but that is the common theme in all of them...

(26,549 posts)The conspiracy theory is the Obama administration is out to take away everyone's guns. So they set up a fake mass shooting in order to do so.
No irrational hatred for Obama, and Democrats in general, and there is no conspiracy theory.

(102,218 posts)Yet the crickets we hear from the majority of supposed "responsible" gun owners--rather than denouncing the limitless tactics of NRA and other pro-gun groups when using these guns to intimidate or break the law (as in Nevada and Utah) or to decimate these grieving families with their insane conspiracies-- leaves me aghast and overflowing with contempt.

(16,191 posts)After watching some of their Youtube videos and reading some of their screeds, I was left with the inescapable conclusion that most of these "truthers" suffer from mental health issues. I sadly had to watch a friend decline into a world of paranoid schizophrenia about 15 years ago (severe enough that he's permanently institutionalized today), and most of these rants genuinely reminded me of many of the earlier delusions he experienced before his disease completely disconnected him from society. The Sandy Hook truthers use guns as a cover, but the real story is this pervasive fear that winds through their theories, constantly reiterating that someone is out to get them.
Ironically enough, these are EXACTLY the kinds of people we need to take guns away from. I'm not anti-2A, but the mentally unstable shouldn't be armed and loaded for bear.

(21,020 posts)a good point...that anybody who would say such things is obviously not dealing from a full deck.
Serious mental illness is likely at play here. No "normal" person would say those things.
So when someone crawls out of the woodwork to say horrible shit like that, what's the first thing people do?
They call the mentally ill person (who didn't even commit a crime, for crissakes!) a "scumbag" and declare that there's no punishment bad enough for him or her.
I have a sister who says some inappropriate/shitty things all the time. She's not evil. She's not a "scumbag". She has a mental/emotional problem.
Yeah. Mentally ill people maybe should be put in jail or something because they can't control their thoughts and their mouths.
Awesome.
