the genetic material was from generations of humans mixing genetic material across families, communities, races, continents, etc.

That is what is so absurd about the idea that God made A'dam and Eve and we are all directly descended from them. Based on pure genetic science we would be a world of imbeciles. There was much more going on. The whole creation story is a story to explain the world's origins to simple minded people. We are smarter than that.

But as far as science I know we all have a common male ancestor - I don't know about a female. but obviously that common ancestor wasn't the first human male - just the only one who still has desendants.
