Check your privilege at the door!!

All of you with your perfect 20/20 vision. You have no idea what it's like for us people with corrective lenses and contacts, even those who have had corrective surgery can never know your privilege entirely. Yes, we look the same, but we do not see the same. I live in fear that I may need to evacuate my home in the middle of the night, fumbling for my glasses. I watch as you all enjoy water sports, amusement park rides and sunglasses.

Your "selfies" are not marred by glasses and squinting eyes, creases and indentations from nose pieces. You brag, oh yes, you brag about your perfect vision, boasting your genetic superiority. We are routinely discriminated against. Unable to fulfill dreams of being astronauts, or jet pilots.

You persist in this privilege daily, unaware of the advantages you have over us "4 eye'd" people.

So when you wake up tomorrow, needing to do nothing more than open your eyes, think of the millions who have to find where they placed their glasses or stumble half blind to a bathroom to put in their contact lenses. You have it made and you do not even know it.
