Points from the day:
1) Obama's favorability ratings keep improving, albeit slowly
his job unfavorability is now in single digits
his personal unfavorability is now about 2 points--just about as good as the best Republican
2) Just as NASA says it has photographic evidence that collapse of a large part of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet in inevitable, and that human caused climate change is the cause
3) Marco Rubio speaks up to say that he does not believe in human caused climate change while
4) Al Gore, speaking at the University of Chicago, states the obvious that any Republican who acknowledges human caused climate change to be a reality will be destroyed in the primaries by Koch brothers money.
5) Meanwhile, just as many Republican false projections and misrepresentations regarding the ACA are coming to light, Mike Rounds (former governor of my state who is now running for Senate in a heavily contested primary buys an ad on Huffington Post to campaign on what a disaster Obamacare is and will be
6) While my brother, who voted for Ronald Reagen twice, says, "Thank God for Obamacare."
7 & 8) Meanwhile, the internet trends of the days are to make fun of recent statements by Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, and
9) Generally speaking Republicans continue to campaign on articles of faith even as these articles of faith are being exposed as absurd, often fraudulent to begin with, and are now being openly and widely mocked.
Many more instances could be added to the above lists, and the trend is obvious, and well past time.
Will it arrive in a wave by November?
I don't know, but I find myself hoping.

(4,775 posts)If this party had its soul intact rather than selling it to large donors, nobody in their right mind would support Republicans. Their party is nothing more than a zombie hoarde driven by greed for money and power. Ours is only slightly better, by design.

(53,661 posts)He's been 'killing them with kindness' as he does believe in equality and equal treatment - even for those who want to destroy him and others.
He loves his enemies and tries to teach them to do better. Love is said to conquer all, at times it doesn't feel that way.
It's also claimed that the universe seeks balance. And it will have it in some form or another.
People are tired of hate and destruction and no solutions being offered. The destroyers want all things swept away. but not for the good of the planet or humanity. they want it all gone so they can swoop in and steal. Their goals are being shown clearly, but some will reject reason
But your opinion makes me feel optimism.

(23,156 posts)Is that brother going to vote for Democrats from now on? If not, nothing else matters. He can say "Thank God for Obamacare" until the cows come home, but if he continues to vote for Republicans he is not only part of the problem, but he's why we can't win.
So long as people like him continue to vote against their own self interest, no matter if they're saying Thank God for Obamacare while they do it, the just don't get it.
Actually, it just dawned on me that his last opportunity to vote for Reagan was almost thirty years ago. Who has he voted for since then?

(2,190 posts)And generally for Democrats, but I can't say consistently or reliably.
I think he voted for Clinton in '92, but not in '96.
He didn't like any of the candidates in 2000, and I'm not sure how he voted, but he voted for Kerry in 2004.
Generally he votes Democratic in congressional and state elections . . . (generally).

Where is the blind emotional outrage element in all this?
That's what drives votes.
