http://www.alternet.org/tea-party-and-right/republicans-deadly-political-strategy-damage-country-and-you-damage-democraticThe Republicans have their strategy, and they're sticking to it, even though it involves destroying lives and even killing people.
It's working so well based on a simple statistical reality.
The majority of Americans depending on which survey you look at, between 60 and 75 percent cannot name which political party controls the House of Representatives, which party controls the Senate, or either.
Because most Americans don't know who controls Congress, when Congress misbehaves, as they have been doing for six years, most Americans aren't sure who to blame.
Enter the Republican Chaos Strategy, based entirely on this statistical and political reality.

(2,541 posts)Not only do Americans not know who controls congress, they don't comprehend why it matters. The idea of and need for a divided government totally escapes their preconceived ideologically distorted mindset. Thomas Paine said in "The Rightsof Man" that " that you can't make people ignorant but you can keep them ignorant". That is the goal of Faux News and Theologically designed charter schools. Where ignorance reigns fear rules.

(7,549 posts)So I guess in the long run the democratic republic form of governance has failed as an experiment. To be a true one you have to let everyone vote even the "ignorant" people who aren't smart enough to know when they are being lied to and are acting against their own self interests.
To bad we can't amend the constitution to let only the "intelligent" vote but then who sets the standard and how would it be tested?
Maybe it can't be fixed. Maybe we are just screwed which is what I am beginning to think. I'm surrounded by a lot of Faux news swilling addicts who buy it hook line and sinker. I could try and school them but doubt it would sink through their racially motivated hatred of Obama haze and rock skulls and I'm becoming just too discouraged to keep trying.
All I can do is keep voting for Democrats in the meantime.

chambers of Congress, 13% can only name the House majority party and 10% can only name the Senate
majority party. The remaining 42% can name neither. "
