Obama To Ask Congress For Cash For Roads, Bridges

The Obama administration has proposed a four-year, $302 billion transportation plan. Of that amount, half would be in addition to the programs paid for with fuel taxes. That additional spending would come from revenue raised by closing corporate tax loopholes and by making other changes in business taxes, a longshot idea in a politically divided Congress.

This is WIN-WIN-WIN. Jobs for locals around the Nation, decent SAFE roads and bridges for the motoring and bicycling public, and actually keeping our infrastructure from becoming L'il Bosnia. Now, watch which obstructionists say 'NO!' to this.

Then drag 'em out into the crumbling street, and find some nice big rocks to stone those ignorant fuckers with. (I'm doxydad, and I approved this RANT.)

The ones on the right who don't want to fund the fund or
The ones on the left who don't want to fund the fund.

Can't raise taxes
Can't charge tolls
Need to grow cash trees to please both of these groups.

2. I think the GOP is letting the infrastructure crumble on purpose.

Their goal is to fix it by handing out a bunch of fat contracts to their supporters. By then, things will be so bad that the Democrats will feel that they have to go along with it in order to get things running. The Republicans don't mind spending tax money as long as it goes into the pockets of their wealthy cronies.

I know the President and the Democrats recognize the need for a significant increase in federal and state investment in our aging and rapidly deteriorating infrastructure from our roads, bridges, power grid, levees, water control systems, etc.

But if I were BO I would be tired of banging my head against a brick wall until it bleeds. The Republicans are never going to support anything that creates jobs or is seen as helping the President or this economy.

If they can't have their way to give all the rest of the wealth to the 1%, destroy the safety net, let Americans die by the millions without food, shelter, jobs or health care, impose Xtian Sharia law, imprison and execute all homosexuals, stone any woman who so much as thinks about ending her pregnancy and round up any and all progressives for re-programming at a thought camp, they are going to pout and refuse to approve anything.

The Prez knows exactly what he is doing. yes, they wuill fight him tooth and nail, but he will never win any Tea-Hadists hearts and minds anyway, so making a common sense idea that can be enriched with the undecided voters will sway 2014 votes. It's simply the easiest way to assure that the TeapubliKKKans look stupid...on a daily basis.
