MAP: Every Country's Highest Valued Export

http://www.businessinsider.com/every-countrys-highest-valued-export-2014-5

Using data from the CIA Factbook, we labeled every country in the world by it's highest valued export, a.k.a. the commodity that makes the country the most money in the global market.

Unsurprisingly, most of the world runs on oil, particularly the Middle East and Central Asia.Europe seems to be the world's workshop, where most of the machinery and motor vehicles are made.

The type of machinery ranges from optical instruments to BMWs. Latin America brings a blend of food products and oil to the trading table.

Asia, it seems, is the worlds manufacturing center, where the world's clothing, wood products, and semiconductors are made.

That's a huge part of the economy these days and if the CIA is the source, I'm sure they track that market as well.

No, you got to color within the lines, I guess.

Gold, diamonds, oil -- it's insane that a continent with such products has such widespread poverty.

Gold and diamonds are trade goods. They're not terribly useful, their value comes largely from the fact that they've been adopted as surrogate currencies on account of their rarity. So they won't help you develop an industrial society early.

4. Nice, but such a tiny bit of useful information on this map ( except in very broad terms)

Just so easy to make misleading statements and false conclusions from a map like this.
-
Overall the internal consumption is not included, so quite a bit is missing.
-
It's not like EVERY country has a lot of different resources and infrastructure to EXPORT them.
-
Examples.... Saudi Arabia would have a hard time exporting a large amount of soybeans and New Zealand perhaps does not have a lot of excess copper to export.

I don't think so....You think we don't notice your devious attempts to acquire our water and minerals. Calling us a 'used car lot' won't hide what you're really after.

in Madagascar - I know I would love all that coffee!

Seriously, though, I thought the USA made a lot of stuff for the military and weapons in general. Where is that on the list?
