Did the RNC Just Set the Table for Rand Paul?

Brace yourself, Republicans—in three of the four states with the first GOP primaries in 2016, the Kentucky senator could build a momentum that proves impossible to stop.

A bit of advice for Republican establishment types: Stockpile your Valium for March 2016.

That’s because the Republican National Committee codified a presidential primary schedule this month that requires Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada to hold their votes first. And Republicans from both inside and outside the establishment wing of the party say that calendar will provide a huge advantage to Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and his legion of Tea Party acolytes.

But those same ties give Paul an advantage in three of the early primary states, and if the senator were to win or even put together a decent showing there, Republicans say he may have momentum that is impossible to slow. No Republican has won Iowa and New Hampshire and failed to win the nomination.

“If Rand were to win two of those first three or three of those first four, he would be a train gathering a lot of steam,” said Matt Mackowiak, a Texas-based Republican consultant and a veteran of George W. Bush’s reelection campaign. Such a string, Mackowiak added, would raise a number of questions for party chairs and donors.

Did they forget about all the GOP debates that Rince (Snotty) Prebuis will schedule? The minute Rand Paul starts flapping his gums, people start to dislike him. He'll take himself out of the race regardless of primary schedule. He's a ferret-headed asshat with his Dad's mailing list of rubes and marks who thinks he can grift himself to the top. Unfortunately for him, his brain is stunted and he cannot restrain his moronic tendencies.

3. I'm wondering if Rince Prebuis didn't make the schedule this way to get Rand Paul out in front early

on, let him get attacked and shunned and then later in primary season bring out whoever he wants to win. With all the early focus on Rand Paul he could probably sneak Jeb Bush in closer to the end and the public wouldn't have enough time to hear all his negatives. Plus, Rand would be finished he wouldn't be able to mount a third party run.
I've been thinking for some time that since the GOP doesn't have any really strong candidates that their plan may be to let everyone think someone like Rand Paul is the favorite, let all the attention go to him, and then sacrifice him in time to get the candidate they want. Woulden't surprise me a bit. Rince really learned from the debates and Romney's campaign, Republicans don't do well when people know who they really are and what they really think. They also don't have the fund raising issues that would normally prohibit that plan.

4. You're ascribing "planning" and "learning" as something Rince can do. I think he flaps around

I don't think half of the people who claim to be Libertarians know what their ideology actually means.
