Note: Neo-Fascist Runs Ukrainian "Security and Defense"

The Secretary of National Security and Defence in the present Kiev government, Andriy Parubiy, is a leader of the Svoboda party.

Svoboda consists of neo-fascist, ethno-nationalists who honor the Ukrainian party that collaborated with the Nazis during World War II. They are openly anti-Semitic, highly xenophobic, engage in Nazi-like salutes and rituals, and organize in gangs for violent attacks on the street.

many of the shock troops who have manned barricades in Kiev and the western city of Lviv these past months represent a dark page in the country’s history and have little interest in either democracy or the liberalism of Western Europe and the United States.

“You’d never know from most of the reporting that far-right nationalists and fascists have been at the heart of the protests and attacks on government buildings,” reports Seumas Milne of the British Guardian. The most prominent of the groups has been the ultra-right-wing Svoboda or “Freedom” Party.

During the Maidan protests, Svoboda and an even more extreme grouping of political shock troops, Right Sector, attacked leftists and anarchists who attempted to participate in the anti-Yanukovich protests.

Since the regime change, they have attacked journalists and leftist political candidates on the street.

Keep in mind that the chief of the present Kiev government, Yatsenyuk, on May 9th described his country as being under a foreign attack. He praised the West and the U.S. for standing alongside his government in the hour of peril.

This is the government that the CIA and FBI are currently advising. This is the ally that the U.S. government has chosen -- in our names. And according to its leader, we're ready to go "toe to toe with the Russkies" (if I may quote Dr. Strangelove) on his behalf!

Yatsenyuk, the country's former central banker and an an advocate of hardline neoliberal economic reforms, was literally the State Department's choice to run the government, as revealed in the infamous Victoria Nuland tape leaked anonymously through Youtube.

The State Department expressed open support for immediate Ukrainian regime change prior to the actual fall of the Yanukovich government. Nuland appeared with the demonstrators in the square.

The Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation lists NATO, the State Department, NED and a couple of Western financial institutions as its "partners," as well as a Ukrainian oligarch who is in turn partnered with some of the best-known American oligarchs like Gates and Peterson. In the Yatstenyuk government, Svoboda also holds the post of deputy prime minister, and thus has two key power positions.

Last year the World Jewish Congress asked the EU to consider banning Svoboda, alongside the more famous (until now) and openly Nazi party of Greece, Golden Dawn. (see http://www.channel4.com/news/svoboda-ministers-ukraine-new-government-far-right)

The funny thing is that Svoboda and Golden Dawn don't like each other. Although they are ideologically almost the same, the Greek Nazis feel more of an affinity for Russian revanchism, in keeping with the particularities of Greek nationalist history.

That's the thing with fascisms of different countries. Sometimes neighboring fascisms or nationalisms run into each other, and have a dispute over territory they both claim. As a result, Russian ethno-nationalists hate Ukrainian ethno-nationalists and vice-versa. For now the poor Ukrainian fascists of Svoboda are for now being frozen out by the informal European right-wing international.

Marine Le Pen of France, who is seeking bourgeois legitimacy and who therefore also distanced her National Front from Golden Dawn, has expressed a desire to align with Putin. There is no necessary loyalty among these movements, exactly as one might expect with nationalists.

Bizarrely, there are some who will therefore claim this means Svoboda isn't really Nazi, since some non-Ukrainian Nazis dislike them!

That hasn't stopped American right-wing extremists from expressing themselves, however. Here's John McCain with Yatstenyuk and the Svoboda leader, Oleh Tyahnybok:



But while the likes of Golden Dawn and Svoboda may disagree about which of them is the true, honest Nazi and which is a mere Zionist deception, the World Jewish Congress knows Nazis. They understand Nazis are still Nazis even when Nazis from different countries oppose each other. I'll trust their opinion, as well as the obvious evidence of Svoboda's own statements and actions.

So now, when you hear claims about new intelligence or security matters from the Ukrainian government, remember who is running the "Security and Defense" ministry responsible for these claims: a neo-fascist party!

Svoboda has been dressing up its cadre in uniform as recruits in the national guard deployed in the attempt to crush the anti-Kiev protesters in Eastern Ukraine.

No worries, Americans: The guy at the top of the Kiev government isn't a Nazi.

He's a banker, and that's good, right? He's working for the State Department, CIA ("NED&quot and NATO, and imposing an austerity plan demanded by the EU and IMF, so he's okay! Not at all ideological - just a humble servant of economic necessity.

If it means he has to team up with a Nazi or two... what do you expect? Those leftists, they don't want to play capitalist ball!

The main thing is, the U.S. should not be involved in materially supporting any side in this conflict.

Honest mediation toward a peaceful solution with regional autonomy. Let the Ukrainians debate and vote on what relations they want with the EU or Russia.
