GA Republican: Having same-sex parents is a ‘tragedy’ like losing mother or father in a car accident

One of the seven Republican candidates running for Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA)’s seat in Congress said in an interview that growing up with same-sex parents is a “tragedy” akin to losing a family member in a car accident.

According to BuzzFeed, Rev. Jody Hice said on his Culture and Values Network radio show that “homosexuals have the right to be married” but not “to one another.”

He compared same-sex marriage to vandalism and defacement of public property and said that widespread acceptance of LGBT people will cause “drastic and irretrievable consequences, both for the future of marriage and for the future of family and the future of child-raising.”

“If a child loses a mom or dad in a car accident, we all think that’s a tragedy,” Hice continued. “And yet in a same-sex relationship, there is an intentional, deliberate doing away with one gender or another.” The Georgia Republican primary election takes place Tuesday, May 20. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/05/20/ga-republican-having-same-sex-parents-is-a-tragedy-like-losing-your-mother-or-father/

The GOP hates facts.

They get it in their head gay = bad and the rest follows from there regardless of what the facts may show.

There have been many peer-reviewed studies that have shown no appreciable differences between children raised by single parents (of either sex), a heterosexual man and a heterosexual woman (married or not), or a same-gender couple (men or women) in broad terms.

The important thing is that children are raised in a loving, welcoming and supportive environment.

I suggest the worst things for a child are to be raised in an environment of violence, lacking in love and support, where two parents may not be violent but have a caustic relationship, etc.

Children sense these things. If they feel loved and nurtured they will do well.

Then they present themselves as paragons of virtue.

The Right infiltrated the churches all through the South.

At least the people of Georgia had the sense not to give that batshit-crazy sack of crap a chance at a Senate seat. Not that they have that much sense, given that they've allowed the equally-looney shitbag, Jack Kingston, to make it into a runoff. Yuk.

Two Republicans advanced in yesterday’s primary – trucking company owner Mike Collins and Baptist Pastor Jody Hice – and will compete in a run-off election, though it’s the latter who appears to have the slight edge.
