Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith are under investigation by child protective services over a photo of their 13-year-old daughter Willow lying on a bed with her friend, Moises Arias, 20, according to a report.
The controversial black and white snap, which was posted on social media, depicted former Hannah Montana actor Moises shirtless with Willow slouched fully clothed in front of him.
Willow's mother Jada, 42, defended the image earlier this month, saying there was 'nothing sexual about it'.
Now the Los Angeles Department of Children And Family Services has launched a probe, according to RadarOnline.
The website reports the investigation was launched last week and that Will, 45, and Jada have been 'extremely cooperative'.
The source told the website: 'Social workers will also be talking separately with Willow, and they also want to talk to the young man in the picture with her as well.
'This wont just be one or two visits with the family, and it will likely be an open investigation for at least a month, out of an abundance of caution.'
MailOnline has contacted both Will and Jada's representatives and awaits comment.
Moises posted the picture earlier this month on social media. It was then noticed on their friend Kylie Jenner's Tumblr account, leading to a media furor.
When asked about the photo, Jada lashed out at photographers and videographers as she arrived at Los Angeles International Airport on May 7.
Speaking in a video she said: 'Here's the deal. There was nothing sexual about that picture of that situation. You guys are projecting your (own) trash onto it
and you're acting like covert paedophiles and that's not cool.'

If only...

(63,203 posts)Still a non-story, but it's disingenuous for a media-savvy family to act surprised at the preposterous reaction to it.

(5,764 posts)And they're not acting "surprised", they're acting disgusted. Which is actually a completely appropriate reaction to it.

(2,273 posts)If there was a problem with the photo then the parents would have handled it. This is just some bureaucrat trying to feel important for 5 minutes.

(10,362 posts)I'd be careful investigating Will and Jada. They have a lot of money and friends in their community.

Actually, I think Will and Jada should be investigated for exposing their kids to the cult of Scientology...that's abuse, IMHO.

Agree about the Scientology crap, too.

(32,017 posts)They have sources within local CPS. It's being echoed mostly in tabloid/online media. You can't make up a story about a CPS investigation, can you?
