What's your SECOND favorite thing about the tidal wave of gay-friendly court decisions?

I imagine that most of us are primarily thrilled by the reality that this country is moving inexorably toward the position that love is love, regardless of the gender of those individuals who share it.

But how about other than that? For myself, I have to admit that I experience an inordinate amount of joy at the thought of the gut-wrenching, stomach-churning anger and sadness of the homophobes and bigots who must feel like their entire world is collapsing.

Consume feces and expire, you narrow-minded self-righteous fuckwads!

I agree that much of the anti-gay, anti-marriage-equality, etc. efforts have been driven by so-called Christians.

But keep in mind there are many of many faiths who do not share those views. I am an openly gay Christian man. I have no problem reconciling my faith with "me" as a gay man. My faith tradition is evolving...so far only allowing congregations that wish to accept clergy that are in same-gender relationships as pastors. They have yet to adopt a policy of allowing the blessing of same-gender relationships and of course not performing such marriages. But it is evolutionary.

For those of us of faith it is important that we drive our traditions to embrace love in all its many facets.

Please do not categorize all people of faith with a broad view. We are not all the same. I am very different from the Southern Baptist Convention, the precepts of the Roman Catholic Church or the LDS.

They are as sweet to me as a rare wine. Every time I see a gay marriage ban overturned and their subsequent wailing and gnashing of teeth, it warms the cockles of my cold, black heart.

marriage equality was a toxic issue which would cost us all elections look like short sighted, craven twits. The folks who said 'of course I support equality, but be reality based, equality is impossible for at least a generation so stop asking for a pony and compromise on your basic human rights, that's just pragmatism!!!!!!!!'
It's delicious.

11. I'm enjoying the potential evolution of the English language in re: familial relationship names.

English doesn't tend to generate specific words for specific relationships. Some languages separate "uncle" into mother's or father's brother, 'morbror' or 'farbror'. Family relationships are narrowed by adding defining terms (second cousin). Marriage equality is something that strikes me as out and out needing some new words here and there.

Are there going to be new words to accommodate new marriage realities, or will we stay with husband/wife/spouse? Will we have a new word or two, as 's/he' tried to be? Or will we start changing spellings again, maybe 'wyfe' in the same way 'womyn' was around? Or adopting words from other languages, which English does quite well? Already several states with marriage equality are changing the marriage licence form to something like 'Party 1'/'Party 2' instead of Bride/Groom.

Could be fun watching what happens next.

The birds still sing, the grass still grows. My marriage to Mrs. Ed is strong as ever. Western civilization hasn't crumbled into dust.

I was scared all those things were gone for good if we tried being a little nicer to The Gays, 'cause the right-wing sound machine told me so.

In other words, the fact that it's a losing money pit for the right.
