The Washington Post's Erik Wemple reported Thursday that Williams talked to both journalist Glenn Greenwald and his source Edward Snowden for what will be a three-part interview on NBC. According to Wemple, the majority of the broadcast will stem from the several hours Williams spends with Snowden, who has been living in Moscow after receiving asylum from the Russian government.
Williams will also interview Greenwald individually, while the third part will involve both Greenwald and Snowden together.
NBC confirmed the interview on Twitter, revealing that it will air on the network Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET. It will be Snowden's first interview to air on American television. The tweet included an arresting photo of Williams and Snowden together.

Spotlight! It's the Greenwald, Omidyar, Snowden show.

(55,445 posts)Why isn't Greenwald just doing all this stuff on The Intercept? You know, that $250 million venture that was going to completely re-invent the journalism profession for the 21st century? I'd have thought a live Snowden interview would generate a lot of mouse clicks, which that site desperately needs...
And given Greenwald's "underdog outsider" image and his eternal loathing of old-school conventional media, does he know NBC and Brian Williams are mainstream as fuck? For all his MSM criticisms, he has become surprisingly dependent on them propping him up (remember this is a guy who has COMPLETE autonomy over his OWN media outlet)...Of course I've gotten bashed repeatedly for suggesting Greenwald/Snowden are more interested in the sideshow and rockstar treatment than trying to get this story to the next level -- But time and again they have proven me right so my cynicism has been justified...
So will he ask WTF that Putin press conference stunt was about? Or is that "off-limits"?
