General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsYour wants are my wants as well.
I want our species to stop killing one another.
I want our species to stop destroying countries infrastructures, poisoning their water and soil, and maiming and killing innocent people.
I want the money that is spent on war and weapons to be spent on peace, food, lodging, and healthcare.
I want racism to disappear into the dustbins of history.
I want education to be available for all on this planet.
I want the elites who are in charge of this planet to be replaced with decent caring individuals.
I want the money that was stolen from the working masses to be returned to its rightful owners.
Sadly, I do not think any of my wants will ever be achieved in my lifetime.
Same here.

(22,756 posts)"The "prosperity gospel," an insipid heresy whose popularity among American Christians has boomed in recent years, teaches that God blesses those God favors most with material wealth...One of the oldest and best-known proponents of prosperity theology, Oral Roberts - the television faith-healer who in 1987 told his flock that God would call him home if he didn't raise $8 million in a matter of weeks....
the past decade has seen this pernicious doctrine proliferate in more mainstream circles. Joel Osteen, the 46-year-old head of Lakewood Church in Houston, has a TV ministry that reaches more than 7 million viewers, and his 2004 book "Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential," has sold millions of copies. "God wants us to prosper financially, to have plenty of money, to fulfill the destiny He has laid out for us," Osteen wrote in a 2005 letter to his flock

(5,376 posts)One of those preacher guys put the word out that Jesus was NOT poor, rather he was rich, lived in a mansion, wore designer clothes...blah-blah-blah. Not sure where he found the scripture to back that up, but of course people believed him and thus justified their desire to be rich, too. Pretty much turned me off to christianity and the fact that the prosperity preachers are still doing their thing begs my question: If there is a god, why does he/she put up with them? By now, I have my answer.
Thanks for the link!

(32,723 posts)They are both on Social Security Disability and neither ever had a really good paying job and a LOT of their stuff is the result of hitting yard sales and thrift stores with the occasional Craigs List curb alert. They go out and hit all the food banks in town so EVERY DOLLAR can prop up their upper middle class illusion.
And yes, they believe God blesses the rich and they believe they are in that category.
And they voted for RMoney.

(426 posts)for a perfect world. Which the 'sensible people' will tell you is impossible. But the truth is all of that is within our power. We just have to do it. It's all the 'realists' who say it's impossible that hold us back. Well, them and of course, those who live on hate.
Here's to your wish (and mine!) coming true!

(13,661 posts)and animal and plant and mineral -- all are necessary to a healthy home, and if we don't stop destroying this spaceship we call home, none of those other wants are going to matter one whit.

(3,447 posts)...and get off of this obsession with status, wealth, material goods, and conspicuous consumption.
I want to see people think every day instead of repeating mind viruses.
I want to see people mocking each other end.
I want to see people treat each other as individuals with lives, dreams, feelings, and emotions, and quit thinking in terms of groups, blaming in terms of groups, and hating in terms of groups.
Accomplish those things and the ones in this list will be child's play to fulfill. In fact, they'd be fulfilled as we found other things to do with money other than show how much status we have with it, or how 'in' our shorts and tops are this year, or how much nicer the Lexus is than a Toyota.
A girl can dream...right?

Mostly I'm tired of people being ugly to each other. I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world everyday. There's too much of it. It's like pieces of glass in my head all the time. Can you understand?"

(86,548 posts)in addition and not last, I want humans to recognize that all the other species on this planet are important and necessary for the survival of humans, whether they are cute and cuddly or not!!!
And I think that should be at or near the top of the list, then all the people oriented wants can be accomplished.

If the bottom line were missing I would consider using it. I don't like to use posts that are either manipulative or use blackmail.
